I will be starting my live tracking app at that time.  If you want to follow my race progress - go to http://www.sportstracklive.com/

You don't need any membership or invite - my race will pop up on the home screen.  Now if a lot of people start tracking after I do - My live track will probably get pushed from the home page.  I'm not sure if you can search for my username or not (I think you can).  It's the same as my BT username.

Be warned - This race is in the mountains, and there is at least 1 pocket where I get no cell signal.  I may still work though, because the GPS feature still works when I lose cell service.

I will also start the app for my run - which should be 1:20 after the ride (if everything goes according to plan)

I am stoked - I'm going to crush this race course!

Just got home--You must be going up a hella hill just now!!

This is at least the 3d time i've been stung while biking - 1st time a wasp flew down the back of my top and stung me a number of times before I was able to get of the bike and rip off my shirt to get rid of it and the 2d time a bee/wasp flew into my stomach and got caught in my clothing.  That one hurt for days.

Anyway, it got me thinking about the various wildlife encounters I've had while biking. to include: being attacked and chased by geese, having to steer around gators, turkeys, deer running out in front of me, and keeping my fingers crossed that the wild pigs didn't take a dislike to me as i passed.

What type of encounters have you had?  I can't be the only one to encounter attack geese!

I saw a coyote on the way to my ride this AM.  I thought a crow might fly into me on my ride.  I thought a bee flew into my helmet, but when I stopped to check, there was nothing there.  And I got chased by geese while playing soccer in high school.  Do any of those count?

Wait, wait, wait.  Running.  Baby skunks.  They were so cute.  I was going awwwwwww when all of a sudden it dawned on me....where is your momma!?  I didn't stick around to find out...

I got up at oh-dark-thirty this am (it really was still dark out) to go into Vancouver to ride the bike course of my race in 2 weeks (!).  Does anyone else feel like time speeds up as you get closer to race day??  It is 4 loops with a big hill at the start of each loop, but it is not as bad as I thought it was.  The fourth loop was tough, but it went ok.  I feel much better on race day knowing the course.

Sure, they count! Coyotes have made it to central Florida, but I've never seen one. I think geese are the meanest

I'm pullin for you finding the money.  That made me laugh out loud.  Sorry you got stung:(

I see a lot of wildlife when I run and ride, but other than faching unchained dogs, I've never had anything I would consider an "encounter".  I have had some super scary azz dog encounters though.  Hate that.

Yes! And I was just thinking about that this morning.  Ack!

Riding the course before hand is such a good idea.  Good on you.

Yes, riding helps a lot with familiarity of the course. I at least try to drive the course before hand.

Performance at yesterday's sprint was rather meh, couldn't really turn it on. Course was fun even though it's really slow. Report coming.

Deer, wild turkeys, crazy squirrels that I almost run over.  There's a pack of geese that wander across a road in an office park where I ride on the weekend; they never move out of the way.  I've been stung a few times, but nothing too bad.

The best one I've had was a kangaroo bounding down the Main Street of the outlying suburb that I live in. It was very strange never seen anything like that before (contrary to popular opinion in other countries we don't have that many kangaroos in suburban Australia). I have been swooped by Magpies a couple of times too.

Sorry about the sting Ann-Marie I hope that it gets better quick, but thank you for saying about it because you have reminded me that I need to get my epipen renewed before next season - a sting like that would kill me.

Home from the whirlwind trip to PA.  Dinner last night was as bad--or worse than predicted.  Seriously, the worst meal I have had in a very long time.  We headed to West Chester immediately after dinner and found a hotel room....surprised our old friends at church this morning. THAT and a trip to Wegman's for some nice meats were the highlight of the weekend.

I often chase a barred owl on my trial runs and once I saw an Indigo Bunting. Beautiful bright blue flash in the foliage. I had to stop and see if it was an indigo. We rarely see them here. As for geese, yes they can be so intimidating. When I lived in Napa and aspired to being a veterinarian, I baby sat Perry Mason's Toulouse Geese. While he died. Very sad. Anyway, they were so aggressive that I would come out of the house and kick them all in the chest just for good measure. We ended up having a truce, they would still hiss, but they wouldn't butt me when I bent over to feed them. OMG. Nothing, nothing is worse than getting pushed over by a bunch of pissed geese. Just sayin...

Again, no workouts for Renee this weekend. Ok no tri-type workouts. I got to spend the weekend in rivers. Saturday I was at a fundraiser for a group that raises and releases threatened and endangered species in Tennessee. We snorkled and saw turtles and some really cool darters and a big fat chub. m-Swimming upstream is a challenge. Then on Sunday my boating buddies tried a new local river here in Knoxville that we heard had a good class II stretch. It was beautiful... and really polluted with mud and kind of stinky. It was a great read and run trip in canoes. Lots of ducking under logs and such.

Today I'm going to try a class at the Y that I just discovered. Its a tri class, swimming, cycling and running indoors. Held every Monday.

Also realized this weekend that my trip to the New River on Thurs will bleed into Sat, so no race for me this weekend. Ah well. There is another sprint in July. I'll sign up for that one.

Congrats, Mr. Didn't Have It In Me But Am Forking Fast Anyway Effort's always top-rate with you.

Right now my backlog of writing goes all the way back to late 2011, but I really do want to do a (pic-and-video) enhanced writeup of the time I spent with Chris Lieto ...

One thing he does on crap days (racing not training) is kick it up one more gear on the bike and keep busting it as long as he can. Something usually breaks through. Sometimes not. I know you'd changed the cassette and go by power anyway, it's just something I have tucked in the back of my mind for shorter races.

Sitting here watching the best ever Biggest Loser Makeovers which is really inspiring and the 2013/14 triathlon calendar is out so I am mega pumped for this season at the moment - just got to stay that way now.

Day 1 of abs done today, my second goal for the 100 days is to lose 10kg.

So, i went out for a 45 mile ride this morning and about 10 miles in a bug hit my mouth - almost swallowed it, and I thought "good thing that wasn't a bee".  Then contemplated how bad things would be if I swallowed a bee.  Of course, about 5 miles later a bee slammed into my face, very close to my mouth, caromed off and impaled itself into my left bicep.  It took me a few seconds before I could get it out of my arm.  By that point, it had deposited a good amount of stingy stuff into my arm.  It made for an ouchy rest of the ride.  Next ride I'm going to think about finding a lot of money and see if I can make that happen too

I have only had dog encounters -- both them chasing me and me being bitten.  (Unless you count my encounter with a pickup truck last year.)

A few years ago someone on a group ride hit a deer.  I assume the deer won.  The rider and bike didn't come out of it too well.  I was not on the ride.

ETA: I didn't know that we could include stuff that we've seen but not actually interacted with.  Turtles (I move them out of the way if I can), deer, foxes, groundhogs, snakes, hawks, vultures (ew!!!), bald eagle...
