For the TdF Challenge here on BT, we were divided into teams.

All I have to say is that Team Garmin/Omega Pharma is going to win!

So, i went out for a 45 mile ride this morning and about 10 miles in a bug hit my mouth - almost swallowed it, and I thought "good thing that wasn't a bee".  Then contemplated how bad things would be if I swallowed a bee.  Of course, about 5 miles later a bee slammed into my face, very close to my mouth, caromed off and impaled itself into my left bicep.  It took me a few seconds before I could get it out of my arm.  By that point, it had deposited a good amount of stingy stuff into my arm.  It made for an ouchy rest of the ride.  Next ride I'm going to think about finding a lot of money and see if I can make that happen too

I have only had dog encounters -- both them chasing me and me being bitten.  (Unless you count my encounter with a pickup truck last year.)

A few years ago someone on a group ride hit a deer.  I assume the deer won.  The rider and bike didn't come out of it too well.  I was not on the ride.

Just don't ask Salty what sort of encounters she has while out running -trust me you don't want to know some things you can't scrub out of your brain

This is at least the 3d time i've been stung while biking - 1st time a wasp flew down the back of my top and stung me a number of times before I was able to get of the bike and rip off my shirt to get rid of it and the 2d time a bee/wasp flew into my stomach and got caught in my clothing.  That one hurt for days.

Anyway, it got me thinking about the various wildlife encounters I've had while biking. to include: being attacked and chased by geese, having to steer around gators, turkeys, deer running out in front of me, and keeping my fingers crossed that the wild pigs didn't take a dislike to me as i passed.

What type of encounters have you had?  I can't be the only one to encounter attack geese!

Deer, wild turkeys, crazy squirrels that I almost run over.  There's a pack of geese that wander across a road in an office park where I ride on the weekend; they never move out of the way.  I've been stung a few times, but nothing too bad.

Deer, Turkeys, Quail, California Kingsnakes (Cool), and Northern Pacific Rattlesnakes (Cool)...Other stuff too, but too much to recall!

The best one I've had was a kangaroo bounding down the Main Street of the outlying suburb that I live in. It was very strange never seen anything like that before (contrary to popular opinion in other countries we don't have that many kangaroos in suburban Australia). I have been swooped by Magpies a couple of times too.Sorry about the sting Ann-Marie I hope that it gets better quick, but thank you for saying about it because you have reminded me that I need to get my epipen renewed before next season - a sting like that would kill me.
I wasn't expecting any kangaroo sightings! Very cool; if it had tried to box you you'd win the animal encounter stories by a landslide .

ETA: I didn't know that we could include stuff that we've seen but not actually interacted with.  Turtles (I move them out of the way if I can), deer, foxes, groundhogs, snakes, hawks, vultures (ew!!!), bald eagle...

Yikes, multiple dog bites ! I think I'll take my attack geese.

Soto get my weight loss happening I am going to start punting calories. In the past I have found that if I have to log it I think twice about the things I eat. I have normally used a written log but am thinking an app might be easier. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Okay, just to get THAT image out of all of our heads ... by replacing it with worse ones :D

Chris made me promise not to publicly post the underwater swim video of him, but he never said anything about stills Innocent actually I did tell him about the Manatees (of course!) and said I'd be posting it here.

I'm pretty sure any of you can tell me what is SERIOUSLY wrong in these pictures ... (both sides, so this is not a one-side fluke)

No matter how badly he swims, he still kicks my butt. So no, you'll get nothing from me.

I'd post an Independence Day pic in a couple days... but it just wouldn't have the same effect... Embarassed

So I was just looking at my year to date totals. Half way in to 2013 and my bike mileage is 70% of last year and my run mileage is 67%! My swim isn't quite as aggressive... 52%Innocent

I have Lose It. Used it last year so nothing is really fresh in my mind, but seemed fairly simple to use. Free and lots of good reviews is why I chose it. Not too hard to find foods and save meals. Choose your goals and it sets up calories for you. There was a thread about this a few months ago if you want to check out some other opinions/ options.

He can kick my butt for all it's worth--but he is dropping his arm and it is completely straight instead of a nice bend with a high elbow.
