They both got bit pretty good and both had to go to their respective hospitals. They are ok though, relatively. |

I should be entering the water at about 9;15. I plan on a 28 minute swim - with transition should be on the bike at 9:45 a.m. PST. I will be starting my live tracking app at that time. If you want to follow my race progress - go to http://www.sportstracklive.com/ You don't need any membership or invite - my race will pop up on the home screen. Now if a lot of people start tracking after I do - My live track will probably get pushed from the home page. I'm not sure if you can search for my username or not (I think you can). It's the same as my BT username. Be warned - This race is in the mountains, and there is at least 1 pocket where I get no cell signal. I may still work though, because the GPS feature still works when I lose cell service. I will also start the app for my run - which should be 1:20 after the ride (if everything goes according to plan) I am stoked - I'm going to crush this race course! Just got home--You must be going up a hella hill just now!! Did you have any problems tracking my ride? (or you might have tuned in for my run.. I didn't change the workout when I did the transition) From the point of that 3 mile long hill - there should have been no cell / gps issues, and I jumped my speed WAAAAY up... I love going fast. Race Report coming.. |

So scary when that happens...Salty, glad your boss and her dog are ok as well, or relatively, anyway. Man, we had a little Dachsund in for a dog attack--she was really badly hurt, lots of stiches, drains. Some of the skin on her back died from lack of blood flow (about a week after the incident). About a 6 inch by 2 inch area. We did sugar bandages and therapeutic laser--and within 2 weeks, the area had granulated in to about 3 inches by 1 inch. The body is an incredible thing! |

Master 1890![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Gig Harbor | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors 2013: CLOSED (exc/ Pop Tart bribes)Playing catchup on the last 4 pages! TJ - Congrats on an awesome ride. Glad to hear you had a good time, and I love the medal. I too am now thinking of doing a TT. --- also - congrats on the 2013 training totals. ---- and - love the story about the new tri convert. Way to recruit. Ben - Glad to hear you still had fun - even though your "performance was well off". Fun is one of the main reasons we Tri right? Hands Marie - I have not been stung - but I regularly get dive bombed by all types of insects. I had one go in my helmet (I think it was a bee) and I was scrambling to rip of my helmet while riding 1 handed... almost crashed. Of course I have been chased by dogs (what cyclist hasn't)... but the best "wildlife encounter" for me was a couple weeks ago - I saw a Doe and her 2 newborn fawns walking across the street. I slowed down and watched them for a bit. They were the tiniest fawns I have ever seen. Very cute. Almost forgot - I was chased by geese on my Grandma's farm when I was little - scared the heck out of me. Also got sprayed by a skunk on that farm. Stacey - Why on earth did you have to bring up Salty's nasty encounter? Yanti - Every time I hear this song - I think of you. (the chorus) I've been meaning to share. I sure hope your storm is running out of rain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1q3LEadIk3w ------- Also - I was taken aback by the Lieto shots. I would have never dreamed that a pro triathlete would have THAT MUCH room for improvement. With those triceps - he should have an incredible catch and pull..instead, he has virtually none. I'm know you will improve his technique dramatically. Monica - I'm with Chris... I don't want to be labeled "that guy"... aaaahhhhh FACH IT - aaaaarroooooooooooooguh! (Picture my Eyeballs popping out of my head and snapping back) Erin - I, like Richard, used "myfitnesspal.com" Salty - based on those pics - it looks like you had a great time! I have yet to have poutine... I really want to. Congrats to all JoGoers...awesome job. Mrs Verb (aka JOGO) thanks for keeping track..that was an awesome thing to do for the pod. I will participate more heavily in the next one.

Most come running from their yard as their owner watches and says, " he's friendly, don't worry" and then their dog bites him. Usually, it's a one and done thing as I let my dog free to defend himself. Thankfully, he's never actually been hurt, but man does it get my heart rate up!OMG so cute! Sorry to hear that! My boss is actually out today because she and her dog got attacked by another dog. They both got bit pretty good and both had to go to their respective hospitals. They are ok though, relatively. |

From my phone there's just too many ways to mess up... so it'll have to hold til later. I will say thanks for the running feedback many of you gave. I made 5/7 short runs (3-4mi) last week and am starting week 2 tonight. Shorter runs for more days is my plan for now |

Day three of who-knows-how-many 100+ degree heat....The low temps BARELY go below 75 degrees at night. ick. We are going to use our "hot" tub tonight as a miniature swimming pool....basically chlorinated water without the heat or bubbles on....do what you gotta. Tomorrow is supposed to hit 110, with possibly 111 on Weds. Thursday is supposed to "cool down" to 102. Its sad when 95 degrees seems almost cold. I'm gonna go baste in my own sweat now. |

Veteran 1100![]() ![]() Dayton | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors 2013: CLOSED (exc/ Pop Tart bribes)Results (#65) The race was good. I enjoyed the event. The race was good/bad, and to be expected. Had a good swim, T1, bike, T2, and the worst 5k of my life. Pretty proud of the bike. Ashamed of the run. Room to grow in everything. I've never, ever run a 5K, race, or even trained that slow. But that's something I can fix with regular running. Live and learn (and heal). On to the next race! |
