I may need the day off tomorrow more than I think Undecided

Maybe you should take Friday off too!

Can I take, say, 2013 off?

Originally posted by bcrahtSorry to interrupt the usual witty banter with a training question, but...HIM race is in less than 2 weeks.  My longest run to date was yesterday, 12.5km.  Do I try to get another long run in next weekend (1 week to race day), or just do some shorter up tempo stuff?  I felt pretty good yesterday, other than being holy hell hot!
I don't think I would do my longest run a week before the race. Maybe a 10k with some tempo or intervals. I try to remember that there is really nothing I can do a week or 2 before the race to improve my performance ( the work is done), but there are things I can do to hurt it and that includes doing too much or trying to make up for any perceived training deficiencies.

Have you tried them on?  How do they look on you?  Which one would you want to see in your race pictures?

SHe posted pics of herself! They are really cute. Also the photobomber.

Lighter colors tend to show race crud (snot, blood, sweat, salt, gu trickles, gatorade stains, etc.) and errrr ... highbeams.

I'd do another long run.  A one week taper for an HIM should not be a problem.  If it gets to be the 8th before this happens, though, I'd switch it to something shorter.

Definitely black.  Normally I like a little more colour, but the black one just looks better with the shorts!  How's about some modelling pics?

::sigh:: Ok.  Please ignore the poor quality of my pictures (blame DH for that) and how awful I look.

black

yellow

Even though I LOVE the back of the green one, I agree with the others and say black!  Go with the ninja-stealth look!  (and the black will hide more grossness - aka, snot, sweat, salt, etc.)

Love that E is in the background - she's already quite the photobomber!

Holy crap that was AWESOME!!

"may your nipples and sensitive areas be free from chafing..."  A-bloody-MEN!

I was having a massive giggle-fit at work, especially about the port-a-loos...

(Semi-Marathon de Paris had a TOTAL of 11 port-a-loos for 40,000 people, it wasn't pretty!

I don't know if it was reporters being reporters and exaggerating to get better ratings, but they did say it had the potential to be a big a blast as what happened in Texas in the past month, and I'd be inclined to agree.  There were multiple rail car tankers of gas next to the one that was leaking and it could've been bad, very bad.

Holy crap. So glad it got contained quickly and I hope the one fellow makes out okay. That much scarier when it's so close to home.

Yikes!!!  Scary stuff, I really hope the one worker recovers - and so thankful that it was contained quickly.

Not an option, but thanks. I am jamming with Lee on Friday evening, so there is a silver lining. And a vacation a week later.

<Rant> I just wish that as an MIS department we could get our collective heads out of our rears and figure out where we are going and what we are actually here to do. I try to keep my thoughts centered on my tiny dept, because from a larger perspective, we are so mucked up that it ain't even funny. </Rant>

On to more important things. I wish that Yanti could take 2013 off as well. It has been a bit much, hasn't it?

Jen, I find this question to be quite funny , since racing fashion is not generally a thought for me. Um, all black, I guess.

OK, this is completely unrelated to anything, but here goes. For many years, TW and I would have a 3rd of July party. Due to the fact that we got the 4th off (bankers hours) and then had to go back to work on the 5th, we decided that the 3rd gave us ample time to recover. So for a few years we did this and it got to be a bit uh, um, raucous. Or racy. Or out of control, I guess, depending on your outlook. More than one friend woke up with a hangover the next morning. Sometimes people lost stuff in the pool. And so on. Then a few years back we stopped having these. It probably coincided with me being a bit more attentive to my health. This year my intention is to awake early to go on a ride with the LBS at 6:45 am. I find it interesting how much life changes over time.

Enjoy your 3rd of July!

Ha!  Too funny.  I was up at 4am on the day before our holiday (June 30th) for a bike ride and then up at 6am on the holiday for a swim.  There is something wrong with us...Wink

It is funny how priorities change. It wasn't too long ago that I would go to Wednesday happy hours that lasted until 5 the next day and then I'd head into work. I can't imagine that now.

Well, aren't I late to the fashion show? Surprised

As much as I really like the yellow/green... it needs different shorts with it to look like a set (IMHO). And as far as "headlights", I figure they just distract the competition (deer in the headlights?) and should be used to any and all advantage. Tongue out

OK, just to clarify: YOU look great in the picture with the green one.  The green just doesn't go with the shorts as well as the black!  As for the highbeams, I have learned: if you got 'em, flaunt 'em!  Laughing

Makes me think of Salty's Boston Marathon when i hear that Also, you should hear is Gingerbread Man song, very funny too.

Hahaha love the marathon prayer.
