Could it be that the seat is too high?
It took me a month to tweak my new tri bike into the exact fit that I wanted. And now after riding that bike for 2.5 months, I'm tweaking the fit on my road bike to be more similar to my tri bike fit.
If I were buying a bike, initially in terms of "fit", I would only worry about the frame size and frame geometry to be correct for my body and goals as a cyclist. I would not trust LBS personel as they can have unknown motivations such as selling me a bike they have in stock instead of pointing me to a better bike.
As long as the frame is optimal for you, the fit can be tweaked into a great fit. You can either hire someone who is truly an expert in fit, or learn how to do it yourself. IMO, it's not very difficult and largely just trial-and-error once the basic angles are reasonable. |
