What movies inspire you to get out there and train hard? (Page 2)

I have the Ironman World Championship on my TIVO.  

That is motivating. 

I have replayed it 3 times.

Must watch for me from now on before I race

Vision Quest, great movie for grapplers.

rocky for me it is my pre race movie, but have to agree, #5 was bad......Sarah.

I really like the you tube video by Mitch Thrower... 'Ironman from the inside out'. I dont know how many tinmes I have watched that.

Has anyone seen the documentary "What it takes?"... I am thinking of picking it up...

I love that movie.  When I mention that one, nobody remembers it.  I use obscure movie references all the time.  From that movie it's, "gonna have to take on Shute" when we have a tough problem on a project. 

When we have to resort to taking the easy way out of an issue, I'll use, "oh well, we can alwasy sweep the leg."  (from Karate Kid)  ;-)

St. Ralph was very good...even if it's very unknown.

I keep my copy of "The Distance" on my desk to motivate myself to train.  The photos on the DVD case remind that my few hours of running each week are nothering compared to what others are putting in - it helps me get my a$$ out there to do more.   Otherwise the IM stuff on TV is good too.

Running on the Sun

That movie was a major turning point in my life.

I also watch Running the Sahara.  However The Distance is one I enjoy.  The sceens look alot from the area in which I live. 

The sceen when Tammy is running down the road and they have the long shot of the road and the heat coming off it.  The sceen when the Kid ( is it Josh) is running in the cold northern rain.

"Saving Private Ryan".  What the US soldier did in Normandy was astonishing.  If they can do that, Ironman is a cakewalk.  I put things in prespective, training, racing vs guys in Iraq suited up in 110 degree heat and I don't want to run (and FYI not worried about being shot at) in 80 degre weather?   I have no excuses and right now Im getting on my bike for a 2 h trainer ride watching the Thursday night game.  Good luck and God Speed!

Ahh - Prefontaine is a good one - Also, "Running Brave" is another great running story (about Billy Mills) and another one I like is Walt Disney's "Miracle"

When I was rowing Miracle (hockey) and Miracle at Oxford (rowing, about Oxford v Cambridge) were our pre-race flicks, great stuff!

Tears of the sun and Black hawk down. Being a vet and being in combat the one thing that motivates me is seeing Valor on the battlefield. They are just movies.... but when you have seen guys do stuff like that and they are now dead it drives you.

I must have a shorter attention span than the rest of the posters here. I repeatedly watch some short videos on YouTube. Iron Will, triathlon motivation, the clips from the different Kona IMs, especially those with music. I find that those songs and videos now trigger a conditioned endorphin rush.... Guess I am not much different than Pavlov's dogs.
