Subject: RE: Hi-Fi TriHere's the skinny....
There are concerns from the city of Galveston about traffic tie ups with 2 different turnaround points for the bike, AND then the crossing of 3005 to go back to Moody Gardens.
Basically, if a motorist got through the first turnaround, they could get stuck twice more. The community is incredibly supportive of Lone Star and Hi-Fi, but I can't afford to wear out our welcome.
Causing major traffic delays would really hurt the cause. Our goal is to have the race successful enough to have two days of races with a full 40K bike for the International in 2009. BUT, we have to get through 2008, and continue to get the support of the community.
So, the compromise was to have a 19 mile bike, with a good turnaround at the State Park.
Nothing's perfect, unfortunately....and, there are always other considerations for an event.
I've also come to realize we can't make everyone happy. We try, but it's an impossibility.... |
