Subject: RE: Prayers needed for a fellow BT'er.This update just posted in TAN: Hello - My name is Dohn Armon and I am a friend of John's family. Steph wanted to update you but is not up to doing it right now, so she asked me if I would do it. I am not exactly sure who you are, but your are very important to John, it seems. At around 10 AM, a social worker came out to see us and asked Stephanie if she would like to call the family or if she would like for hospital staff to do it, as the conditions were not good, and they felt that John's family should be here. His Mom and Dad live in Alabama and cannot travel easily, so we called three of his sisters and a couple of his Aunts to spread the word. Most of them live in Cedar Rapids, which is about 30 minutes from University Hospitals, where we are at now. At 11, or around there, the waiting room was so full of people that they moved the bulk of the group into a private area, except for the immediate family and a few friends. I walked out into the large area and was surprised to see more than 50 kids and young adults wearing T-shirts from John's charity, all very sullen and worried. I don't know who any of them are, but Steph says John calls them "his army". About 20 minutes ago a doctor came into the family room and walked up to Steph. He is John's transplant surgeon and he had just heard what was going on. He gave Steph a hug and told her that John was going to be OK, he was going to take care of it. He went through the Operating Room doors and that is the last we have heard. We are approaching 6+ hours in surgery now and we still don't really know what the issue is. Hopefully we will have good news soon. |
