I grew up in the 'Cuse...I can't wait for this race now!  I think I convinced my brother-in-law, who lives in Liverpool, to try it out too.  Now I'm trying to see when I can come up for a weekend to ride the course.  The run looks like it's going to be rough.  It looks like part of the Mountain Goat course?

Love the Twin Trees!  It's going to be the promise of a post-race food fest that gets me through this training cycle!

The write up states it primarily a downhill run from the reservoir to Inner Harbor

"Run Course: Point to Point - Athletes will leave the transition area at Jamesville Beach Park and head to downtown Syracuse and the Inner Harbor Amphitheater which will host the finish of the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Syracuse.  Primarily a downhill run course to the harbor, athletes will pass 12 water stops along the way complete with water, Gatorade Endurance Formula, fresh fruit, Powerbars, Powergels and portable restrooms."

All I know is that I won't be able to do the race but I will bring my bike up and do a ride next year during the annual upstate NY pilgrimage.  I'm sure there will be plenty of people doing training rides on this course all summer!

This is going to be your 2nd HIM in NY next summer RIGHT HELEN!!! I have to say that I would rate Musselman higher than any IM 70.3 race.

lets fix that--i'll hijack my own thread.

I was a Sophmore in college when this happened.  The 'cuse was by no means picked by anyone to make it past the sweet 16.  sadly al Mcguire passed, and this clip is often replayed during March Madness

I got ticketrs to go to the final four that year, we lost to a NBA loaded Kentuckey team, but it was a time I will always remember.....

So, you got to see the Orange beat my MSU Bulldogs to get to the Championship game.
I still have that game on tape. John Wallace was unstoppable.

Primarily a downhill run course?  I guess, after you make it up that hill on Rock Cut Rd!  The overall course could be a net descent, but that's not an insignificant climb!

Bike course is a fun ride; climbs are manageable (except for one) and there are a couple of extended downhill stretches where you can fly.  Thankfully they ran it mainly N/S and not E/W!  Although they did include the Valley of Death on Rt 80.  Nice little climb to look forward to at mile 40.

Yay, Helen!!!  I second Rob's rating of Musselman...I had a great time this year.  I'll be in NC next year during Musselman, but I'm definitely in for IM Syracuse!!

This is tempting...I haven't been back to Cuse since my first homecoming after graduation in 92!  Think it would be great to rac up there and then go back and check out the campus...hmmm...need to talk to my coach about this one!
