Thats awesome that your wife will be racing too.  My wife has actually gotten into running and is running the Des Moines Half with me next month, but not sure both of us could commit the time to training for tri's, especially with the kids.  I am extremely happy that she is training though....we do our long runs together on the weekends and it actually makes for some nice time we can spend together.

I did the general registration yesterday in Madison. This will be my first ironman and I'm doing it in my old backyard. My parents house is just minutes away from the large hill on Timber Lane. I live in Milwaukee now so I'll have plenty of chances to ride the course along with running around downtown over the next year. Hope all were able to sign up. Ironlib did you get to sign up as well?

I am just going to do the Community Fund again this year, I finished a couple days with a 13:27:40  not great but not horrible for my first triathlon let alone an ironman. I would have registered on Sat but I have a wild week of partying coming up.
This year I ran my first 5k 7 total, my first 10k, first Marathon (Shamrock), first half marathon Dismal Swamp Stomp, did a 1:58 half-marry a week before the Ironman (Rock 'N' Roll Virginia Beach) for a training run, so this year should have a lot of surprises ahead for me, regardless I would like to run a Boston Qual'er and earn a Kona slot. I have 2 years to get to kona before I am no longer in the 18-24 age group.

My goal for '10 is to place in my 18-24 age group.

I'm signed up - volunteered at gear bags for T2. Pleasantly surprised that they were willing to let the volunteers start signing up before 9am the next morning. Was able to get home that much earlier. I agree with previous posters - volunteering was awesome. I volunteered at Lake Placid last year - soaked for the entire day, but a fantastic experience, as well.

Congratulations to all of the finishers in Madison this year. Not sure how the heat compared to previous years, but it was hot at 3pm when I finished my volunteer obligation. I stayed out on the run course until 12:15 am. Always brings a tear to my eye when I remember the determined look on athlete's faces - lots of exhausted men and women struggling thru T2, later giving me the thumbs up as we cheered them on at mile 14.

I had the opportunity to bike the "stick and loop" of the course (first 70 miles) on Saturday. I've always heard how the hills can trash the legs, but at least I now know what to expect.

Look forward to chatting with you all over the next 12 months!
