We're doing the K-Dot tats Saturday night. I think that's the part my two are most excited about.

this was a great event this morning. i couldn't believe how many kids were out there. there must have been about a 1000 kids overall. it was fun to see the look of concentration of thier faces trying to pedal up that incline on old milton. And some of them had a pretty good look of terror on the way back down the hill!

i can report that annika's bike was like a barbie rocket out on the course. I think doug may have gotten more of a workout than annika though since he ran both the bike and run courses with her. Wink

This was a great event and everyone with kids 6 and up should give it a try.

Here is our Ironkid pre race showing off her body marking in the transition area:

We did rock the tat - and finished......  In between Dad was a nervous wreck.  Had a great time watching the little ones. We did see the Barbie rocket make the last big climb to the finish.

now those tatts are smokin!

i pretty much identify with that nervous wreck thing. one of my girls goes down and busts herself up, but pretty much dusts herself off and gets back up and rides on. the other gets DQ for only doing one bike lap of 2, and Im sure I had alot to do with that, hooting and hollaring so much that she lost focus. i dont know how many times that lady told the intermediates 3laps,2laps,1lap. daddy needs to shut his big trap haha.

These kids tri's are more inspiring than just about anything I've ever seen.

I really get a kick out of the 11 yr olds with full carbon bikes, aero bars & cyclying shoes already clipped in!! It was only a 4 mile ride at that age. I am more impressed with the kids in long board shorts and riding a BMX with their skateboard helmets on.

But then again, there is 6 yr old on my son's baseball team with a $225 bat. It is definitely the parents that drive the craziness.

My daughter finished her 4th tri and had a great time. How'd you like to go back and have 4 under your belt by 9 yrs old? I was 35 before I had done 4.

I agree on the inspirational value of watching the little ones.  I watched a little 6-7 yr old girl push her bike up the hill with only one pedal left, not sure if it was crash or just broke off but she was still racing and she may have got the loudest cowbell I offered through the day.
