He wanted to finish the swim in 1:05 (finished in 1:14) and the bike in 5:20 (finished in 5:31). He's hoping for a 3:30 mary as well...

With his transition goals (that I don't know) it seems like he did want a sub-10...but he knew that would only happen under "perfect" conditions, so I don't think he'll be TOO disappointed when he crosses the KONA finish line.

I thought he wanted to go sub 10?

Best case - 10
Realistic case - 11

My buddy/teammate Patrick was the guy who just finished in the fireman's hat!

You know some weird people.

What is the reason for the tube socks on a lot of the earlier finishers?  I must be out'a the loop on this trend.

Lov'n the Internet coverage.  Wow!  Wish I was there....

tube socks...those are compression socks. They look goofy but I know a couple of people who swear by them. One of them is in Kona, running as we speak. Milos Kostic, age 67. He should be coming in soon, 1st or second in his age group....he'll be wearing the compression socks & lime green shoes I think! I haven't done a thing all evening...just keep sitting by the computer....great stuff!!!

Unfortunately no.....I know you far to well to make a bet like that.  It would be really fun to constantly tease you about the mankini like you do to Jacob.

JeepFleeb - 2008-10-11 6:52 PM Nice to see the age grouper stop to give her the stage.

Yes, he showed some good sportsmanship there -especially considering he could have sprinted so he could say he "didn't get beat by a girl" or some such thing.

Too bad he got stiffed for the hug, though!
