The sea lice welts are horrible, but they will be for a few days. At least no more nausea/fever. (It is ALWAYS something with me!) They're blistery/weepy/raw right now and I hope they crust up soon. I'll be rubbing lots of Vit E oil in as I don't want any scars!

yea, there are a few areas of my body that i don't want scars either.  I'm also conflicted about "toughening up" my sit bones

I'm getting there with my Adamo and I finally don't hate the second half of my ride!

Well I opted not to run my 5.5 mile today as I still had a "twinge" in the hamstring. I thought resting one more day would get me back to good-to-go.  Well now I have to travel to Amarillo tomorrow for work which means I'll miss masters Frown and my scheduled bike ride Frown. Plus I have to be at work extra early so I miss masters on friday Yell and we are going out of town this weekend so unless I bring my bike I'll be missing that ride too Yell. Sometimes my life doesn't fit my training schedule Undecided

Ugh, it sucks when life gets in the way for sure. You are just going to have to roll with it, get training in where and when you can and perhaps do a more run-heavy week since that is the easiest to squeeze in.

I think that's one of the biggest challenges we are all faced with. We all have lives that don't always accommodate training.

Just do what you can and try not to dwell on it too much.

SmileSmileSmileSmileSmile (For good measure

That's my plan.  Thanks for the encouragement.  The hotel has the typical hotel pool so i'd have to do like 150 laps to get any yardage in ...

Maybe it's for the best. My friend is an x-ray tech. for an ER and said they have a tally board. Trampoline accidents trump all others 3 to 1. Who knew!?!

Even stuffed to the gills with 'roids and Benadryl, I'm itching and burning like a mangy hyena on fire ... I had the brilliant idea of making an oatmeal/baking soda paste.

OMG that feels so good ... unfortunately, it looks like a bowl of oatmeal exploded in my bedroom. All over me, bedspread, floor, bag ... I kinda forgot how, um, well, mushy the stuff is.

Oh and of course Biscuits started eating it off me ... crazy cat. I know she'll eat anything but kitty kibble is expensive so she's getting oatmeal with baking soda from now on!!!

That happened to me once at Virginia Beach (sea lice).  Totally disgusting.  I was told my a marine biologist who used to be on here (wyecrab) that they were crab larvae, so who knows.

Cats are nuts.  Taji always licks me when I'm crazy sweating after running.

That does not surprise me.  I've seen my share of trampoline accidents in my years. Most of them were adults.

How long have you had the Adamo?  I use the Adamo prologue (?) and mostly like it, but long rides still do me in.  Also, if i've been off it for a week or so, it is almost like starting the break-in period over.

I think I've had mine (the Racer) for about 3 weeks-ish now? It did take me a few long rides before I got use to it. Now I notice it more if I'm not aero. I haven't really had any more than a few days off of it but this week might be that test for me. I think my longest ride is 35 miles and I was comfortable the whole way. At least compared to my old saddle which left the girlie bits sore for hours after the ride.

I've had mine for way longer then that!  The good news is that my girlie bits are fine as the seat seems to do its job of keeping them free from pressure; it is the sit "bones" that take all the weight (thus freeing up the bits) that get sore.  Going over a rough patch of road can be brutal!

The bones or the crease where your hip and pelvis meet?  It could be that the saddle is too wide if the later.  What shorts do you wear for your long rides?  Does the chamois go down the middle or is it wider (for example, Terry Bella, DeSoto 400 mile)?

Strongbow is pretty delicious, but I don't think it is as good as Magner's or Ballmer's.

Ok, so now I'm sitting in my office trying to " feel" the exact area that is affected so I can describe it to you. My office has a very big window, so anyone walking by will get quite a show! The area is bony - it is the area between the flesh of the inner thigh and the important bits.I wear whatever shorts are clean, but all of them are Desoto. My last long ride I wore the 400s, but they are a bit too big, so I did get some chafing in the crease area.

On the training front: I had originally planned to do a half marathon on November 10.  I decided yesterday that it's probably not a good plan.  I'm not running super consistently or more than 4 miles at a time right now.  I'm concerned that trying to ramp up to the half will cause me to be injured, especially because I'm taking a week or two off at the end of the month so I can finally get my PhD celebration foot tattoo.

So, I'm going to run a 4 miler on 9/22, a 10k on 10/27 (with the family!), and an 8k on 11/10.  After that, I can start working on marathon training and should have a pretty good 6 mile long-run base, which is where I need to start for the marathon plan on 11/15.

Marathon is 3/16/13.  I've been wanting to do this marathon for years!  It's the same day as my very first half ever, so I know the course really well and have always had a good time.

Does that seem reasonable to you guys?  Yanti, I know it's a bit more conservative than I normally am, but you know my injury history.

Well, wait. I do have standards. Anything with the word "ice" or "Milwaukee" or the Jamaican beer Red Stripe. Can't do it.

Yeah, that crease area is a problem for me as well.  The wider chamois helps a lot.  On the 400s, I have to pull them up at the thighs a bit to create some slack (attractive, I'm sure).

Ok, so now I'm sitting in my office trying to " feel" the exact area that is affected so I can describe it to you. My office has a very big window, so anyone walking by will get quite a show! The area is bony - it is the area between the flesh of the inner thigh and the important bits.I wear whatever shorts are clean, but all of them are Desoto. My last long ride I wore the 400s, but they are a bit too big, so I did get some chafing in the crease area.

Sounds like a promotion brewing

cdban66 - 2012-09-10 7:06 PM I finally got a few more photos from Alaska up. https://plus.google.com/photos/113601404233718914952/albums/57817595...

Great pics, Chris!  Looks like you had a beautiful trip.  Thanks so much for sharing and for making me thirsty for Strongbow. MMMmmmm, Strongbow...

Strongbow is pretty delicious, but I don't think it is as good as Magner's or Ballmer's.

My friend is a total Strongbow snob. Won't drink any other ciders. But she will only drink it off the tap and not the bottle.

I haven't had the others you mentioned.

Bah...life is too short to be a total beer snob.

Bulmer's is made in Ireland.  It's sold as Magner's outsider of Ireland, although it does taste a bit different.  I like the Bulmer's a bit better, but it's almost impossible to get here (my bro brought some back for me).

You might have wider sit bones.  I hear that there is some sort of thing you can sit on and it makes and indentation so the fitter can measure your sit bones and recommend a saddle.   I don't know if this thing actually exists and isn't just a Tri Talk legend, though.

Now I am not Yanti so take my advice with a grain of salt...

I always think being more conservative, especially with racing, is better. I think your time is better spent working on getting the consistency up (and then mileage) and doing the shorter races. That will set you up MUCH better for a marathon in my opinion.

I have to be careful, we have cameras all over this place. I'd hate to have that action captured and sent all over the agency! Thankfully, I think the legal dept is camera free.
