OMG OMG OMG

My campus is on lock-down.

I am home, safe, with the monkeys...but worried sick for all of my colleagues and students.

OMG

Oh dear. Do you know why it is in lock down? Haven't had the tv on. Hope that this is just precautionary stuff or a hoax. Glad you are safe.

This is not a 'poor me' post, I'm actually in quite a good mood.

It just this simple - I can get somewhat better, but its going to take a ton of work and I'll still never be very competitive or fast, and I can 'look good' without killing myself to get ready for these races. I simply want to ride my bike and not feel pressured to go out and run all the time, or feel like 'one of these days I have to get into the pool'.

I've raced less and less starting with 2006 being the most (although most of those were 5Ks and I could easily just ride and do nothing but 5Ks). But what's the point of staying active on a tri site if you're not interested in doing what it takes to do them well? For what some of these races cost, these are a lot of nice weekends relaxing at the beach or at a hotel.

Plus, I really feel like I'm neglecting my guitar and my writing.

I'm off to lunch. I'll be interested to read the responses when I return.

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but do what makes you happy. Running makes me happy. Very little else does. So I run. But I would run even if I didn't race, because running makes me happy. I race because it gives me the excuse to get out and run w/o Sugar Daddy throwing a fit. (Really, he's a good person, but thinks I'm a little tri-absorbed.) If noone will throw a fit, regardless of what you do, then do what makes you happy. (And I can't imagine the blonde throwing a fit. )

Actually, she doesn't like the races or the competitive stuff at all; issues with her father and his brothers always being competitive about sports. She thinks its stupid. It is a possible long-term deal breaker as I think some competition is healthy.

If I wasn't doing dus, I probably wouldn't run at all. I'd much rather ride my bike than do anything else.

Then ride your bike! My husband went hog wild into tris last year. Then he injured his achilles tendon running and couldn't ride his bike. This year he's just riding because he doesn't want to do anything that could sideline his cycling. He is still racing. Just bike racing, though. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. I used to swim competitively as a kid and still enjoy swimming because it is very relaxing to me. I love the bike. It is a blast. The worst day of riding still beats the best day of running for me. But the run is my dragon. And I'm out to slay that sucker. I'm not goin' down without a fight, and let me tell you, this has been a bloody battle.

Oh great, psycho on campus? Hope everyone is OK. Why do psycho people always want to take others with them on their flameout?

Still waiting to hear, but it sounds like my building is OK. Psychos never think about others. Sux to be a prof around finals...stress brings out the psychos.

It would be OK if the psychos would just shoot themselves.

Man, I'm tired and depressed today.

But the ones who do that never make the news. And that is usually what these psychos want, media coverage. I was tired and depressed yesterday. Today I am just tired. I said f@%& off to the depression.

That's crazy!  However, it does explain some of the crazy traffic on the way home.  I really hope everything is ok.

Funny story: my 12 year old brother calls me today and asks how he can send himself a link because it's not showing up as a link in the email when he pastes it.  I explain the process and then thought to ask why.  That probably should have been the first question, but I haven't been through mom training yet.

He says he and his friends go to a website called hallpass.com, but now it's blocked at school. He says "it's not a bad site or anything, but we play games there.   We figured out that we could email the link to ourselves and then we could still go there at school."

On the one hand, I'm proud of him for figuring this out.  On the other hand, I feel kind of bad for circumventing the people in charge.

Spokes - 2008-05-06 7:22 PM I really feel like blowing off my tri club group ride tonight. I'm so down... and if I have a bad ride, just going to make it worse.

awww, shucks...I've been quoted....(blush)

Can I say that yogurt toes are GROSS without getting anyone sick?  See the staff fridge was packed today and in moving stuff out of the way to get my lunch a cup of the stuff went splat on my foot which of course was in sandals cause my new job is so informal (I dig this jeans and T shirt stuff)  and yeah, it was disgusting trying to get the sticky mess out of my sandal as well as not spread it across the floor alking over to the sink from the fridgs...

I picked up the cutest polka dot PJ pants today when I got my race for the cure packet.  Miss Thing is trying to rip them off but they are too big for her.  H3ll, they're too big for me cause they didn't have any smalls--even on the website--so I had to get mediums.  But Miss Thing is an extra small so she was out of luck.

Self control kept me from buying any cool jewelery at the craft fair the JCC was having.  Really nice hand beaded pieces and other stuff but I knew it wouldn't go well at home if I bought a bunch of stuff just because.

Self-Control at a craft fair... over jewelry... for me that would be like riding 50 miles in one shot... IMPOSSIBLE... that must've been some workout.

Okay... I actually have a tri-related question for Nibbs... just trying to keep the thread legit (hahaha)

Okay, ordered neoprene tights and vest ... had tri coach check out vest and his opinion is I should return it and get smaller and jacket, not vest (why couldn't he have suggested jacket when I asked his opinion before ordering ).  Well, must agree armholes are too big, but worried about fitting across boobs (I hate genetic traits) if I go smaller.

My options (this is where I need input)... 1.) straight cut or fitted (worried that straight cut will cause chaffing if arm holes still too big, worried that fitted will not give enough movement
2.) maybe I go size smaller if straight cut, but stay same size if fitted.

The size large vest that i ordered does fit snug across the chest and pretty snug at waist (don't think I'd have to worry about water entering through waist area.   So maybe I go fitted in the large.  If I go smaller and it's smaller in the waist too I'm worried that it might ride up and then I WILL have to worry about water at the waist.

Oh the dilema of it all.... and to make it worse i'm such an indecisive person.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
