Okay... I actually have a tri-related question for Nibbs... just trying to keep the thread legit (hahaha)

Okay, ordered neoprene tights and vest ... had tri coach check out vest and his opinion is I should return it and get smaller and jacket, not vest (why couldn't he have suggested jacket when I asked his opinion before ordering ). Well, must agree armholes are too big, but worried about fitting across boobs (I hate genetic traits) if I go smaller.

My options (this is where I need input)... 1.) straight cut or fitted (worried that straight cut will cause chaffing if arm holes still too big, worried that fitted will not give enough movement
2.) maybe I go size smaller if straight cut, but stay same size if fitted.

The size large vest that i ordered does fit snug across the chest and pretty snug at waist (don't think I'd have to worry about water entering through waist area. So maybe I go fitted in the large. If I go smaller and it's smaller in the waist too I'm worried that it might ride up and then I WILL have to worry about water at the waist.

Oh the dilema of it all.... and to make it worse i'm such an indecisive person.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I could help - I don't even own a wetsuit - you don't exactly need them in Nebraska

Hehehe... I hear ya... one time I wish I was still in La... of course I KNOW there is NO way I could do an open water swim in any water with suspects of water mocassins and alligators... I still wonder what ever made us want to ski and hydroslide in that stuff... UGH

Is this the DeSoto two-piece stuff? In my limited wetsuit experience, smaller is better. I have swam in borrowed wetsuits. Of course, my friends are all tiny compared to me, so I have borrowed their husbands' stuff. The chafing and drag I experienced were much worse than cool water temps. I have a one-piece full wetsuit that I have worn for the first time this week in the pool. It is constrictive around the neck, but if you are doing two pieces, you shouldn't have that problem. It is a woman's large. You want that sucker tight. Triathlon wetsuits are designed to give you full motion of your arms and shoulders even though the chest is snug. You will be wearing a tri top and sportsbra underneath. Make sure you have the kind of sportsbra that gives you the monoboob and you should be fine. Are the tights bibs? If they are, you won't have a problem of the waist riding up. The bib should give you some leeway.

Oh dont yuo hate that... I cannot buy clothes that fit at my waist AND my chest... it  drives me NUTS!

I think your coach might be onto something with the long sleeves because then the compensations you have to make fr the vest will not be relevant as full legnth arms will remove the issue of water getting in around the arms...

So maybe you could get the same cut as the current sleeveless but with sleeves?

LOL

I know what she means, but I laughed at this line anyway.

Yes Nibbs, it's 10 PM, and I'm home. No, I didn't work out today. But I think that most of the craziness at work will be calming down soon. Maybe in a few days, I'll be able to hit the gym again! (I'm sure the cockroaches at the pool have missed me. Or maybe not. )

Thanks Cat!!  I was kind of starting to think that as I was typing (sometimes you've got to hear yourself say it to make sense of it all)  And , correct me if you think different, I'm thinkin' that I'll stick with the same size.... I would hate to end up with a zipper splitting b/c I'm too big for it, ugh, the embarassment of it all.  The size I got does fit everywhere except the armholes.

No, though I am definitely interested in exploring the DeSoto wear when I have more money.  This stuff is from H2OWear.  It's not really necessarily meant for Tri's, it's not rubber, it's just neoprene.  I'm only going to end up spending $160 total if I upgrade to the jacket vs. $130 just for one piece (and I think that was the DeSoto clearance).  The pants aren't bibs but they do come all the way up to true waist (not just the top of the pelvis - which most people mistaken as their waist).

I figured that going this route would get me through at least myfirst season of tri's and I've noticed most race notes suggest water temps of approx 65 and not really lower (though this year's heavy snowfall could change all of that)  And I do tend to be a person that ends up quite warm from even the most leisure of workouts.

I just tried it on with my treasured moving comfort dri-fit monoboob armor... and it still fits snug   I think I'll go back and try it one more time to check out the neck, however.

Thanks for the input, with your aquatics background I respect your opinion, Pam... THANKS

To ALL My NIbbs...

You were my first... challenge team - that is...

You've been there when I first learned to swim (Dec '07) and supported my "weak" goals to get there....

You were there when I first achieved under a 12 minute mile, and when I fell above it again...

You've been there when I purchased my first Tri-Bike... and when I had to ship it back due to broken derailler frame...

You were even there when I logged on drunk late at night (though I thinks you guys sleep on the east coast sometimes )

Now I must confess... I don't think I shared when I bought my son his first box of LD's (in March pre-easter.... the Easter Basket cakes)... and yes I ate one okay two ALRIGHT!!!  I ate more than two Blushy   The trauma was devistating....

And most recently... you were there in my delima of big boobs and neoprene  Embarrassed

To ALL My NIbbs...

THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT

I know you'll be there once I at last become a Tri-Athlete in another 5 weeks.
