cdban66 - 2012-09-10 7:06 PM I finally got a few more photos from Alaska up. https://plus.google.com/photos/113601404233718914952/albums/57817595...

Great pics, Chris!  Looks like you had a beautiful trip.  Thanks so much for sharing and for making me thirsty for Strongbow. MMMmmmm, Strongbow...

Strongbow is pretty delicious, but I don't think it is as good as Magner's or Ballmer's.

My friend is a total Strongbow snob. Won't drink any other ciders. But she will only drink it off the tap and not the bottle.

I haven't had the others you mentioned.

I refuse to be a beer snob, the best drink is a free one. I received lots of those when I was playing in a bar band. They were all good!

Meee too.

Well, wait. I do have standards. Anything with the word "ice" or "Milwaukee" or the Jamaican beer Red Stripe. Can't do it.

Agreed, I guess there is a line in the sand. For me it is a white can that says "LIGHT BEER" in black letters. Yes, generic light beer. And a few others.

I consumed enough Bud, Coors etc in my younger years to be done with those.  Yes, I am a beer snob.  I don't drink to get drunk.  I enjoy only an occasional brewed beverage so when I do I want it to be quality. I enjoy trying micro-brews. I bought a mixed six of various pumpkin/fall beers yesterday. Hopefully I'll get to have a couple before my son drinks them all.

Agreed. I'm not a snob, but I will not buy crappy beer anymore. However, if the after race refreshments include beer, I will drink whatever is provided.

My race in Denver served Leinenkugel!

OMG! I had Leinenkugel for the first time when I was in Reno. They had a huge beer festival going on and of course I took part.

Their shandy was really good, and appropriate, on those hot Reno days.

Unfortunately not many of their beers are readily available. That reminds me though, I need to dig a little.

They are readily available in Colorado and New Mexico.  My DH is from Wisconsin so Leiny is a regular at our house.

Not a huge cider fan - growing up in England that was the cheap drink we used to swill in the park with the boys while smoking!

Now cider has a resurgance in fashion!  Bulmers I'm told is the best and they make a pear cider which is refreshing on a hot day (a bit laxative if overconsumed...just sayin')

Mmmmmm. A float made with Woodchuck Cider.  Mmmmmm.

yea, there are a few areas of my body that i don't want scars either.  I'm also conflicted about "toughening up" my sit bones

I'm getting there with my Adamo and I finally don't hate the second half of my ride!

How long have you had the Adamo?  I use the Adamo prologue (?) and mostly like it, but long rides still do me in.  Also, if i've been off it for a week or so, it is almost like starting the break-in period over.

After > 400 miles on my Adamo, I STILL have major soft tissue unhappiness on any ride over 10 miles.  So painful and so frustrating.  Sit bones are actually OK, it is skin/fat/whatever where my leg 'hinges' at the top.  I emailed the people at Adamo and they gave me some suggestions, but so far none have worked. Frown Yell any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

And I could totally go for a cider or beer right now!!

And I'm glad Artemis is doing better.

And I'm stoked to hear Jen has a running plan in place.

And it's good to hear Yanti may be on the mend.

Leiny is a good thing

Be careful of the Leine's Honey Weiss that was brewed in Chippewa Falls.  If you aren't used to the water, it can cause some GI problems.

On the topic of shandys, my friend recently visited Germany and came back with a lovely drink that is imbibed there frequently called a radler.  Half Blue Moon (or other wheat or wit beer) and half lemonade, garnished with an orange slice.  Oh so good!  Very refreshing.

That sounds amazing! I will be trying this asap.

Sometimes when I SUP I often bring with me the makings for what I call a power-shandy. It's still half lemonade, half beer BUT the lemonade is Mike's Hard(er

Don't know if the link works - I'm hopeless at this stuff, but for any seat and soreness issues ladies - I recommend the thread.  It's honest and really gets down to the nitty gritty of what can be a very serious problem.

I am blessed in one regard. I wear a pair of Nashbar bibs, on my San Marco saddle and I've had one bout of numb nutz. My long rides can hit about 50 miles and they are not as often as I'd like, but all I've had to do is adjust my saddle nose down about an inch. Of course, now that I said that, I'm screwed.

Why do you think I'm training so hard? Not those kind of steroids, fortunately.

Not hard at all. Very low intensity but I am bringing the volume back up as tolerated.
