Asalzwed - 2012-09-13 12:27 AM Well, my day started out with me having to extract poo from my dog's rear but also THIS!

Okay, so that's what you were drunkenly blithering on about.

HOOOOOORAAAAAAAAY!

YAY SALTY!!!!! Big bouncy happy booby Boston-bound {MELON PRESS}

I wasn't drunk!!! Just not sober! Smile

I gave you a really good hint! Maybe I should have alluded to a tea party or something.

To be fair I wasn't entirely with it reading it, either. I'm still full of steroids and sleepy-antihistamines.

Hmmm, so maybe a tea party reference would have been over your head. How are you feeling? You seem to be training rather hard for someone full of steroids and antihistamines tsk tsk

Why do you think I'm training so hard? Not those kind of steroids, fortunately.

Not hard at all. Very low intensity but I am bringing the volume back up as tolerated.

Now I have this vision of you all roided out on the trainer. Very hulk-like.

cdban66 - 2012-09-10 7:06 PM I finally got a few more photos from Alaska up. https://plus.google.com/photos/113601404233718914952/albums/57817595...

Great pics, Chris!  Looks like you had a beautiful trip.  Thanks so much for sharing and for making me thirsty for Strongbow. MMMmmmm, Strongbow...

Strongbow is pretty delicious, but I don't think it is as good as Magner's or Ballmer's.

My friend is a total Strongbow snob. Won't drink any other ciders. But she will only drink it off the tap and not the bottle.

I haven't had the others you mentioned.

I refuse to be a beer snob, the best drink is a free one. I received lots of those when I was playing in a bar band. They were all good!

Meee too.

Well, wait. I do have standards. Anything with the word "ice" or "Milwaukee" or the Jamaican beer Red Stripe. Can't do it.

Agreed, I guess there is a line in the sand. For me it is a white can that says "LIGHT BEER" in black letters. Yes, generic light beer. And a few others.

I consumed enough Bud, Coors etc in my younger years to be done with those.  Yes, I am a beer snob.  I don't drink to get drunk.  I enjoy only an occasional brewed beverage so when I do I want it to be quality. I enjoy trying micro-brews. I bought a mixed six of various pumpkin/fall beers yesterday. Hopefully I'll get to have a couple before my son drinks them all.

I'm a beer snob and proud to admit it, at least when I'm buying.Laughing free is always a delicious choice though.

I make a cinnamon/brown sugar mix with ground ginger and clove to rim the glass with for pumpkin beers, delicious

Congratulations on Boston Salty- I doubt the city will ever be the same after your visit.

Glad to hear you are on the mend Yanti

Great job on the races this past week y'all

I am in training all week which consisted of yesterday testing out our new gas masks, we had to walk through a cloud of gas to make sure it worked and then for some odd reason, I think the trainers are a bit into S&M, we had to take off said masks.  I will say taking off a gas mask while walking through a cloud of CS gas is not recommended.  I'm still coughing so taper = rest week for me for this weekend.  Since my training has been sub-optimal to say the best I'm hoping to break the 3 hour mark on saturday instead of the sub 2:45 I had initially thought of.

Masks, fun!!!!!!! Wink  Well, that's one way to taper! Good that you are able to readjust your goals and go with it. So, the race is this Saturday?

putting it out there today....SmileSmileSmileSmileWink See how the rest of the day and night goes and I may upgrade to 5!!!!!

So last night spent an hour putting the new cateye wireless computer on the bike - OMG I'm not technical enough for this stuff!  And my Trek has an onboard computer thing and magnet sensors on the wheel and crank...which allegedly links to my Garmin....but the ANT whatever that is, is damaged so it currently doesn't link and of course I never remember to charge my Garmin...

Anyway I did it wasn't sure it was right but this morning at 4.30am I jumped on the trainer and started pedalling and lo and behold there's my heart rate and there's my cadence and there's my speed and there's my distance!  Woohoo!  Very excited.  Less excited to see I only averaged 23kmh.  I want to get up to 30, got some work to do, but I suppose outside I'll not be pushing so hard to get the speed.  On the drainer it's like going uphill constantly.

Now it's 10am and I feel like lunch!

Hey POD!!!  I missed you!! I just spent time catching up on the 33 pages of this thread #5 - you've all been up to so much!  Great training going on, beautiful photos of alaska, healthy kiddos and family members, Yant's bumpy boobies, Salty's BQ- holy cow guys!!  And guess what, I work in Chippewa Falls, WI - home of Leinies brewing!!  Summer Shandy flows like water around here!!!

Thanks so much for tracking me this weekend at IMWI! It was a super successful day for me and I PRd by 1hr45min!!  whoot whoot!!  I probably could have gotten about 15 min faster...but I'll take my 13:29:08 with a smile!!  K - now that THAT is over (IM training), I'm cutting way down for a few weeks, then starting to training for CC ski season (yay snow!) and I'll be around to join in the MANATEE fun more.  Race report is coming tonight or tomorrow - it's a good one cuz like i said, Sunday was as close to perfect for me as I think an IM can get.  I always thought IM#3 would be my last - but I don't think so ... for SURE I'm doing another ... and another probably after that!! (notice the spacing of those little dots - learned that by reading this thread!!)

OK all you smarter and better runners than me.  As I have mentioned I have been feeling fatigued/tired.  I recognize that I have upped my run volume, and that my body may just be adjusting.  I also know that I have not been hydrating properly (Not hideously dehydrated or anything, just not quite enough.)  As you can see from my graph, it is not like I am running Salty type mileage, we are talking max 35km a week.  And I am running mostly slow, the occasional faster run.  I have been sore during these runs (not after) but not injury type soreness, just body saying WTF soreness.  So my question is, do I just keep running through whatever this is?  Or do I take a couple days off?

OK, I am faaarrr from a "RUNNER", but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once. I looked at your logs for the past few months and noticed that your weekly average jumped in August compared to July. So that may be something there. I notice that I start to feel it when I noticably increase distances for a bit. Not generally in the first few weeks, but a while after that, it feels like what you had described.
