I found of their forums that people have had it repaired to anywhere from $50-$100. |

No racing for me! Just some quiet family time. I think we are going to try camping on Sat. night. I already have a long list of races - pretty much through next Oct. that I have written down. Still recovering a bit from last weekend but will certainly work on my swimming. I've got a good 6 months. I was thinking about working on nothing but drills for as long as I can stand it. I feel that there is no point swimming until I have a good stroke. So I will practice, practice, practice until I get it right. Right now it's my pull esp. on the left side that is non existent, literally. And I hope to get a new bike early spring. Probably a Specialized Transition b/c there are only 2 bikes that fit me and my coach's shop sells Specialized. :-) Good luck to our racers this weekend or at least enjoy the fact that fall is here and football has started! Woo Hoo!!!!! |

Not sure yet, but I'm still struggling with my run. Bike is easy, although I'm not fast, but that will come with time. Swim - no problem. I can do the distances and not feel tired. Run - *siiiiigh* still my limiter, but I'm working on it! No new gadget for me. :-( Wish I can afford a tri bike though. |

For the rest of us, what one decision are you struggling with related to triathlon??? could be which race to do? something to work on in off season? buying a new gadet?? let us help you!! No racing this weekend for me. Struggling to decide what races to do next year, I had been seriously contemplating doing IMAZ or IMFL next year, it's been a lot of fun watching Suzy and Chris get ready and race, + listening to the EN podcasts. But I struggled with a "why" I need that reason when I am hurting to remember why I am doing the race but I couldn't come up with anything. Also I decided I want to go fast. Would really like to podium at an olympic distance or greater race next year. So working with my coach on going faster. Interested in seeing what my OBX Half marathon time is, kind of scary looking at the McMillian calendar from my TT runs put me in Boston range so if I am able to pull off a great run there it might get me more motivated to run a spring marathon for a BQ time... We'll see. |

For the rest of us, what one decision are you struggling with related to triathlon??? could be which race to do? something to work on in off season? buying a new gadet?? let us help you!! Final tri of 2010, fitting it is called One Last Tri... Temps have been cool recently which tells me water is going to be much cooler than normal. I get an opportunity to test my new wetsuit out which will hopefully eliminate the sore shoulders I had with the old one. 600 yard swim, 1314 bike, 5k. *Rant on* If you are running a race and advertising distances, what is so hard about getting them accurate. The bike is listed as 13 miles, but the link to Training Peaks map, shows 14.25.... since it is not USAT sanctioned, the distances are iffy at best, but when the map shows it as 14.25 wouldn't you think they would list it as 14 not 13? *Rant Off* Pacing Pacing Pacing on the swim, I am sick of slower times than I am capable, and attribute it to going out too hard, then suffering. 600 yards shorter than many of the races so I could push harder, but I also know my workout earlier this week was a half mile at 1:31 pace. Main goal is to be out of the water in under 10 minutes. If I can keep from burning out too fast and rather building over the swim, I think I will have a good shot. Bike: I know the course is a lot of up and down which does not play well with my strengths, but I am hoping that gets my wattage a little higher. I think a 225 average is possible, not sure what that will get me, but aiming for a 37 minute ride or so. Run: Cold temps, low of 50 high of 61 means heat will not be an issue and as long as my legs are warm from the bike, I am going to push for a 20-21 minute run. Overall 1:10, will see where that gets me. The main focus is leaving with absolutely nothing left so I feel like I gave it my all to end 2010. |

No racing for me....still recovering from Cheering Suzy and all the other Peeps on all day Sunday. Being an athletic supporter is a lot of work! I did a heavy swim focus last winter (4+ swims a week) and have been ecstatic with my swim splits and swim fitness during this years races. This off season I plan on a heavy run focus. At least one 1/2 marathon on tap and lots of miles. I love running in the snow and plan on really using the trails by the house to mix things up and try to avoid injury. Also, have a "new to me" tri-bike in the budget. I have been shopping for a couple of months now and hope to be able to get a good deal in the off-season. Want to spend some time with a new lady on the trainer after a good fitting and see what these old legs can do on the wattage scale. Any input on your current or past rides is appreciated. Good luck to all you Racers! Remember......REPRESENT! Dino |

For the rest of us, what one decision are you struggling with related to triathlon??? could be which race to do? something to work on in off season? buying a new gadet?? let us help you!! No racing for me. There are 2 relatively local races this weekend so I am bummed watching some of my peeps go off to race but oh well. Focus area...the bike. Have no problem on the flats keeping a pretty good pace but typically get passed like I am standing still on a climb. I often come out of the swim in the front of the MOP but then get passed by a lot of people on the bike. Might need to evaluate gearing on the bike and see if that can be improved and certainly need to work on the engine. From a 2011 race perspective, I have 2 things I need to resolve. The first is should I do 2 half marathons 3 weeks apart (April 10th and May 1st) or should I make the first one a 10K and then do the half. What kind of volume do I need to do to be able to do them both 3 weeks apart? The second is convincing my wife that we have enough time in our lives for me to train for a HIM. I already know that I want/am ready to do it, just need to get her buy in. If you guys want to start sending flowers to my house for her with little cards that say HIM for George, that would be great!!! Good luck Jeff and anyone else who is racing this weekend! |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() If you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter. I'm not really str-ug-gli-ng( think Joe Namath) with any decision really. I just need to learn to run, which I hope to do it time for Vegas. As well, I need to learn to put everything together for August. I know I really need to dial in nutrition. Both on the long course and in life in general. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This is the SAVAGEMAN WEEKEND!!! Feels weird not to be racing. My Doug and my friend Chris will be getting their gggrrrrrr on! Doug took 2nd in his age group last year and is really trying to crush it this year. He's very disappointed though b/c they changed the bike course. They say it is still the same total feet of climbing but IMO they smoothed the course. No more Toothpick or Brennaman climbs and those were the whole point of going Savage!!! Oh well. As for my friend Chris this is her first and only race for the year after coming off a major back/hip injury from the Beach 2 Battleship Full last year. She is going to crush it!!! After Augusta next week I want to focus on some speed on the run. Will do a half marathon in February that will be all about speed. That should build the confidence needed to help with IMCA. Then it's hills, hills and more hills.............. By the way John, since you are from the land of the flat I'll give you a little climbing advise. When you see the "big hills" at Augusta, here is the best way to get over them......switch into the biggest gears you have, stand up and hammer as hard as you can. Don't worry if you heart rate spikes, just hammer hammer hammer. Maximum power output at the most challenging times is what wins these long distances. Then you will feel fully charged and ready to run a half marathon no worries. ![]() |

Struggling with the fact that I entered CDA and it's supposed to be a "bad" winter -- wondering how/if I will be able to stay motivated. I can't control the weather, so that will be what it is. I'm hoping the trade-off will be a nice spring (which we did not have this year) and I can do long rides in decent weather. Anyway, just some apprehension about what lays ahead, but not getting too worked up over it because it's there and I will rise to the challenge because that's how I roll!! |
