Hope every one is well rested and ready for a glorious day. Horrible night of sleeping... I think I dozed off once or twice, but couldn't stay asleep. Then I realized it was already 5 am... Luckily, however, I did get today off, so I slept in till about 11am. I just hope tonight goes much better with the sleep thing. Also I started a new book, so hopefully my eyes will tire much quicker. |

Hope every one is well rested and ready for a glorious day. Since Tropical Storm Fay can through my work load has picked up BIG TIME. I am a Operations Supervisor for a mosquito control company here in Florida, and as most of my fellow Floridians can attest to the mosquitoes are out in full force right now. I put in a 13 hour day yesterday and last night. So I'm draggin a little bit today. I have to make up my strength training today and also do my walk/run. So I should have a better afternoon and evening. Hope everyone has a great day! Peace, Chris A word to the wise: Mosquito's tend target carbon dioxide output [amongst other things], so if you're out there workin' hard, know this, it's like having a bulls-eye painted on your body... I guess that's the trade off for being healthy, and staying fit. Also, in order to build more muscle and increase metabolism, one should try to increase the amount of O2 they take in which by default increases CO2 output, so I would also use some bug spray [maybe...]. |

Hope every one is well rested and ready for a glorious day. Well, good morning to you, too! Today's a rest day so I've got nothing on my schedule as far as training. I'm jealous!!! Yes, I know, I've been on vacay for the past couple of wks, but I wish I could say that I was deserving of a day off... T- 4 days and counting till round 2. |

Luckily, however, I did get today off, so I slept in till about 11am. I just hope tonight goes much better with the sleep thing. Also I started a new book, so hopefully my eyes will tire much quicker. Try melatonin. It seems to be the only thing way that I can get a full night's sleep these days. I did weigh in on Wednesday but forgot to post. I was at 214, but I'm sure it was just the scale playing tricks with me. But based on the body fat readings, I would guess that I'm down about 5% body fat from when I started. And I can still tell a difference in the way clothes are fitting, so I think I'm still just shifting weight around to different places and definitely gaining more muscle mass. I did find a little swimming mojo this morning, but my knee has been killing me all day and it feels like a big watermelon because of the swelling. So, I think I'm going to lay off on any kind of training this week. I have a 5K on Saturday and I think I'm going to do it, even if I have to walk the whole thing. |

I tried to start the month off with a 3m run this evening. I got some new running shoes last week...ran 1.5m in them twice, no problems. Today during the 3m run though, one of my toes started getting sore. Sure enough, a blister formed when I was done. I hope this is just a "breaking in the shoe" kind of thing and not a re-occurring event. (Note: I am new to running, and this is my first real fitted running shoe. I have a swimming background.) |

Good luck on the 5k tomorrow, and remember to ice the knee! I've also found bromelain to be pretty helpful. It's an enzyme with anti-inflammatory properties. |

Aside from everything that Saling has mentioned, I think it might help to wear the shoes doing normal activities for the next couple of weeks... Your feet should start getting used to where the rubbing is. But it is important that your feet are breathing properly; i.e. socks, sweat, etc... |

Expert 1022![]() In limbo | Subject: RE: Team Skinny - Back to School (Sept 08)Well after saying I was joining the club again I guess I sorta failed at actually doing so. I don't like these big long threads....ya miss a week and it's way too hard to catch up! And with the crazy last couple of months I've had, I've had many weeks that i've been gone completely. So I'll just keep making random stop ins I guess. I do have exciting news. Somehow...for reasons I can't quite figure out....I'm a onesie again! 198.8. I have been paying attention to what I eat (mostly...but I've been travelling a lot and it was my bday last weekend so it hasn't been great) and I haven't been working out at all. I have been staying active though....I've been doing quite a bit of bike commuting around town which I haven't been logging but probably should since my log looks so empty. I've also done a lot of test riding in hopes of buying a road bike (not gonna happen yet unfortunately but we're getting there). Anyway I hadn't weighed myself in forever but figured I would give it a go just to see how bad it was. Somehow I've lost 5 pounds since the last time I checked! Woohoo! I'm thinking part of it is that my body was just exhausted and needed some downtime to rest and regroup without entirely stopping all activity. In a couple of weeks i'm headed out to the woods of north carolina for a two month long outward bound class...so no training per se, but lots of hiking, climbing, rafting, etc. Just droppin by to share the news....hope you all are doin well. Sorry I haven't been around more....once I'm back from outward bound I'll try to become a regular again...cus for some strange reason I miss ya'll! |
