I love that tat!!!! that's is so awesome!

X2

I have thought about getting a tat for years (even back when i was in the Coast Guard) and I saw that similar design just not as a tat. I thought it would be cool to get a version of that as I am doing more Tri's,  but I'm a bit chicken and I'm not sure where I would have it inked on my body. You found a great place for you, again awsome tat.

Question;  Is it ok to get the M-Dot design after doing a 140.6 triathlon but it's not an ironman sponsored event. (Cedar Point next year)

Almost everyone says yay on that, regardless of who is running it.

mrbbrad - 2009-07-24 3:01 PM I love passing folks with M dot tats. Is that wrong?
Who doesn't? And that is why I got mine where it never shows when I am biking or running... because everyone passes me! It does show when I'm in a bathing suit... but not in my tri suit. So even before the swim portion, no one sees it.

I've seen the bikini pic and couldn't miss an opportunity to remind people about it!!! GROOOWWWLLL!

Well, it's a long standing "debate" on getting the M-Dot for non-M-Dot races. There are strong opinions on both sides. So, when you asked I thought you were joking (figured you had been around here a while), and when the other person responded that "almost everyone says yay" I really thought they were joking.

Oh, Well I don't want to put the cart before the horse but if I ever do a 140.6  I'm calling myself an ironman and getting the tattoo.

I'm a little late on this one, but I have a question.  If one does a HIM (70.3), do you just get half the "M" and dot for a tattoo?

LOL

A little sideways to the topic, but... if I complete my HIM next week I'm seriously considering getting a winged turtle on my ankle. It's be my first tat... at age 50.

I'm with everyone else on getting the M-dot without completing an iron length tri: don't do it. Some of those other tats are great, though.

Ok I need a litttle input. I am getting a half sleeve triathlon inspired tattoo in a few weeks and I need some ideas as to what to include. I figure Ill include waves for the water some sort of triangle and a flaming pedal or tire and some sunglasses. However I need a few more things and some additional ideas. Im also thinking about the ironman M but I don't ever plan on doing that distance but it's very recognizable. What are your thoughts?

I went back and read the OP. Since you asked I'll give you my thoughts:

I think sleeve's and half sleeve's are, for the most part, unattractive
I think you should not get an M-Dot if you have not done an M-Dot branded race
I think the M-Dot tattoo is way over done
