I am baaaaaaaaaaaack and happy to report that your fearless captain is going to live! kinda embarrassed to report that the mass that I felt was normal...called the xyphoid process?? when I told my doctor she just smiled and said that because I have lost sooo much weight that I had never felt this there before and that she has people who lose weight come in all the time panicing over this. SHWUUUUUUUUU! relief! I also got an appointment to have an xray on my knee when I return...she did not like the fact that it has been over two weeks and it is still so sensy (sensitive). I have an appointment for a mammogram...DOH...darn you for mentioning this Nicole...and for me mentioning it to her! and I am soon to lose the reader glasses and get OLD TIMER glasses! hoping they do not try and get me to wear bifocals...

so, thank you...thank you....thank you....to each and every one of you for all your good thought, your prayers....and now I have some of your phone numbers....woo hoo....just you wait til I surprise you with a call in the days to come! I love you all and appreciate all the love and support you sent to me!

and I doubly thank you for all the inspires you left me!

now for training.....how are each of you doing? I would like to ask that we all check in at least three times a week....we need to hear from each and every one of you. Remember this is the reason that we all joined forces....so, whatcha say? deal?

Hi Julie.  I'm very happy to hear that all is well.  Never heard of the Xiphoid process, but I did take a look at wikipedia.

I've had bifocals for about two years.  I use them mostly for reading.  Used to need the distance assist for driving at night, but my eyes seem to have improved in the last year or so.

I am happy with checking in 3 times a week.  I've had a good week so far and am planning to rest today (Friday).   We got more snow last night, but the sun is out and I'm hopeful it will melt everything so that I can get out for a ride tomorrow.

Oh, my prayers for you were answered!!!! I'm so happy I knew that you could handle anything you had to , but was thinking you have had enough on your shoulders lately.
Well do you feel like you have a new lease on life!?!? Take a deep breath and enjoy your life
you have a great one!!!

And to answer your question; was I praying while working out....ooops....no, I decided to work later, clean the house, walk the dog, and go over spelling words with my son....I didn't want to drive 50 miles round trip to the Y.
I think tomorrow is going to work out to get out of the office early to get to the Y and get two hours in...maybe...I have to go to the Chiropractor/Nutritionist at 2:30, he is going to try and help me make it throuh my race season without a body breakdown and nutritional breakdown like last year.... I have been keeping all my nutrition, training time, supplements, etc... He will evaluate them and give me a crack or two.

We are going to a biathlon race this weekend...we are team SNAMANATOR...(last name Snaman) pretty clever eh?

Whew!!!  Glad you're okay!!

My boys are sick.  This severely limits how much I can work out.  Plus it doesn't help that my husband is out of town.  He'll be home Friday night so I can at least get to the gym on Saturday.  Hopefully next week will be better.  Every time I get on my trainer, my boys fuss for me to get down and sit with them.  I think they're just feeling crappy and want mommy.

I start my swim training on Monday, so at least I have that to look forward too.

I'm really glad that I had canceled today's run because of my knees because this morning's temperature was 8F plus wind. I've run down to 15 or 18 but never this cold. So, I'm sure I would have bagged it anyway. Instead of running I did Pilates. For the first time I did the full beginner's workout rather than the modified beginner's workout. Wow! My abs and quads are not happy right now!

The weather this weekend will likely week me from riding outside as it's going to be even too cold for me.

Just a quick note to say "Howdy!" from chinook-ing Calgary...after all our snow and cold, we do get these systems from time to time that blow in strong warm winds- we're looking at +10C!!! Yippee for warm....boo for strong gale force winds and the gross slush that it will create since there is 3 ft of snow piled on top of every sewer grate.

Julie, so relieved to hear that all is well. Have fun at the race in Bakersfield! I'll be cheering for you!

Alyssa- you runner girl, you! You were flying! My sister gave me a shirt once that says, "I don't chase boys, I pass 'em!" This is you!!!!

Nicole, hope the knees are feeling better and that weather warms up for you! Way to go on the Pilates- You must have abs of steel!

Jennifer, hope the boys are feeling better. Never fun watching the little ones when they are down in the dumps.

Amy, hope you get to the gym today and that you learn lots of good nutritional stuff that you can share with the gang. I always find it so interesting. I am constantly famished these days- in fact I am probably consuming more calories than the hubby.

Dan, wishing you some warm chinook winds to melt your snow too! H

Happy Friday gang!  woo hoo!

morning all!
i was going to try to sleep in an extra hour instead of running today, but that didn't pan out, so now i'm trying to decide if i'm having a day off? or if i should go out for a short little 2 or 3 mile recovery run.
i'm really excited about this lazy man thing--all the distances of an iron man and you see how many weeks it takes you to finish! i started on the 10th and i only have 4.5 miles left on the "marathon" (of course i've done NO swimming, and NO biking-but still-it's the most i've ever run in a week before!!)
i am stiff stiff stiff this morning, and run or no run, there will be much stretching, and yoga for me today.

Rather than running consider doing some easy spinning on the trainer.

Where did you hear about this "Lazyman" thing? I finished the swim distance last week, I'm less than 20 miles short of the biking, but I'm a half marathon short on running. If my knees cooperate I might be able to finish off the running by the end of the month.

the lazyman thing is how a friend of mine was introduced to triathlon. it was a program they had at her Y that she did a couple years ago, but it's helped her training, at the beginning of each year she starts, and she tries to do one in 5 weeks, then starts over and tries to finish in 4 weeks, then 3, 2 and 1. she's actually the friend that got ME in to triathlon, so she sent me a card to fill out and we're doing it together.

anyway, i started my card on the 10th. i told her that the swim was going to be an issue for me, but she said start anyway. i told her i don't usually bike this time of year because i'm a baby about biking in the cold, she said start anyway. so now i'm 4.5 miles from finishing the run, and i have no biking and no swimming LOL
what i DO have is a plan. there's a high school swimming pool (that i hate going to-but i do what i gotta do) i think it's around $3 a swim, and i'm going to see if i can get the distance in in just 3 swims. then since i don't have a trainer or rollers, i'm going to try to get on the stationary bike that my parents have (even though i hate doing that too-again, i do what i gotta do) i think i can get that distance in between 6 and 8 sessions. so if i can swim and bike 3 or 4 times a week i think i can knock this crazy thing! LOL

it's especially hard to have "excuses" with her, because she has RA. she was diagnosed when she was like 2 years old, and she inspires the crap outta me! she's in pain ALL the time, there's days when she can barely get out of bed, but she's out there training. AND my best race i've ever had was the race she and i did together (although she was in a different wave so we weren't "together") and my time was only 30 seconds better than her time!! she totally rocks!!
