holy smokes people! we were way down the bottom o the page!! what's happening here?!?

you guys are awesome with the inspires! LOL i love inspires!

my legs are totally great today, i'm a tad stiff, but not as bad as i expected, i did a little yoga this morning, and took a hot bath, i'm almost good as new. planning on maybe a 4 or 4.5 mile run tomorrow (hope hope)

it's amusing to me that a 4 mile run used to intimidate me so much, and now i'm just throwing it out there, like it's nothing! aren't human bodies amazing?!? i've been flipping out about it all day! you push, then next time you push harder, and the things that you used to be so frightened of seem like a little jaunt in the park on a sunny day!! bodies are crazy-weird!!

Went to the Doctor today.

I guess it is good news that he diagnosed the symtoms and will work with me to make me stronger...it can be controlled by supervised training, supplements, and nutrition. But he told me I had to drop 4 of my races for this year because I wasn't giving myself enough recovery time for my tissues/muscles. So I am going to follow the plan and get stronger.

I knew this past summer and still now I don't feel good, you know, at a 100%...it just I feel like I'm being a whimp, but I guess it was my body trying to repair and protect itself from further damage.

I will thank God it is something that can be reversed with good advise from my Doctor...he is a nutritionist/chiropracter and he takes care of a lot of athletes...I really like him and his approach to wellness. Everything he was saying today, like my feet hurting, hormonal imbalance, pain, weakness and many other symtoms...I was going OMG that is me. He said no matter how hard I tried to lose weight is wasn't going to happen because of my acidity in my body, my fat cells are storing the acid to keep my organs from getting damaged. I'm just glad to know and start making my changes to a better me.

SO NOW IT'S TIME TO GET WELL!

I won't be around tomorrow, my daughter is running her first indoor track meet for the season at SIU Southern Illinois University, we are leaving early in the am to watch her.

Love from Indiana
Amy

I am wondering how much sleep everyone gets. I'm typically up at 5:30am and usually turn in between 10:30 and 11pm so I get between 6.5-7hrs of sleep, more on the weekends. Overall I'm chronically tired and have a tendency to nod off in meetings if they dim the lights. I don't know how to get more sleep or to do less during the day. Not enough hours!

Thanks a bunch, I got the vibes by airmail

I think sleep is very important and we all probably need 7-8 hours, but your right...not enough hours in the day!

i usually go to bed around midnight. like i've said before, dh usually gets home around 11pm and i always wait up for him. by the time he winds down and we're actually in bed, it's usually midnight, sometimes it's 1130.
the kids, as i've mentioned before too, usually get up around 8. sometimes it 730, sometimes it more like 840 depending on what kind of day we had the day before. usually dh will get up with the kids if i'm whooped, or if i've been up a lot of the night with the youngest,
then i usually eat b-fast, have coffee, and run. dh usually leaves for work around noon-so i feel like i most of the time, have enough hours to sleep and get a workout in. on his off days, that's when i try to "go long"
i am used to getting right around 8 hours a night, but again, a lot of times i'm up with the youngest, he still carrys on at night-so sometimes it's 7 and a half, sometimes if i'm tired, i'll stay in bed for longer. just depends.

not that ANY of that is really all that interesting! LOL that's my hour breakdown though.

so here's my catching up to all that happened in the last two days.

Snamanator girl: glad to know that your weight loss made you discover parts of your body and sorry to say that am a geek and knew what the xyphoid process is :we place hands a finger higher of it when we do CPR so, glad you have one that i can locate in case of need I will do my best to check here 3 times a week but cannot commit to anything. You guys just post too much and i type too slow haha!

Amy: glad the doctor found out you needed rest so that you could lose weight. You would have beaten yourself up for not meeting your goals when what you needed was to be more gentle with your body...so get rid of the hippo and find something softer

Yvonne:Gimme some of that chinook...it is -30C (-41F) here and i am frezing my butt just getting to my car!

Nicole: I NEED at least 8 hours of sleep and 9-10 in the weekends. So, i have help for the house cleaning and the lundry gets folded in the dryer...wich means...NOT! Thank goddness for appliances that work while i sleep and a hubby that needs less sleep than me so he can move the clothes from washer to dryer and take the dishes out of the dishwasher in  the morning.

sticking to my run plan is my priority. Since master's tri class is wednesday and i can't, b/c of schedule, switch my wed run to a thursday,i have to chose...so swimming will be done when possible and not with my tri gang. I am a bit sad and can't wait to see my gang in april.

ok. Back to the insanity (ds had a birthday party to go to and no fitting pants,dd has to get a hait cut, and i need to run 5 miles). See you guys later!

Mt weekend weather forecast is for cold beyond what I'll ride in, so I rode the rollers today. Fell once when trying to get back on the bike after a rest. I stopped my fall with my bad hand/wrist. It hurt before, now it really hurts!

Tomorrow is a rest day. Maybe I can ride outside on Monday.

Sorry I've been MIA.  My boys are sick, and all they want me to do is sit on the couch so they can sleep on me.  If I even attempt to get up, all hell breaks loose.  I'm hoping we're on the back-end of this round of illness.  It really puts a crimp in my schedule.

I'm sure they'll be feeling better pretty soon. Luckily for us all, it's still the dead of winter and our races are still a ways off. Lots of time to get on track!

Hi everyone.  I finally got out for another ride today.   It was sunny, but windy and up around 42 F.   Tried out my new socks and my feet did indeed stay warm.   Decided to keep the ride short (about 45 minutes) since I got in so many running days this week.

Sleep? I am getting 7-8 hours these days, but lived on 5-6 for 25 years.   If you are working out a lot, your body needs more rest.   A 15-20 minute nap after lunch can do wonders.

 Have a great weekend!

Needless to say gang, I have had a rough couple of days realizing that my internal body is so out of wack and at risk of getting worse if I don't make a lot of changes ie: work stress, nutrition, training and race schedule, and letting go of so many race goals, so it is done and I'm implementing the changes immediately. I go back to the Doctor in two weeks for a review of my nutrition, training etc...
Me and family are going to church and then going to the health food store to pick up some of the items needed to repair my system, oh yeah, I will fill you in later.
I will also be checking up on everyone individually...sorry I have been so self involved the past couple of days..................oh....................or should I say I'm not sorry...see that is one of the new implements...........I was told I always give my energy to others and don't leave enough for myself................but ok................that is just who I'm am, and I love people and I love to see all of you meet and reach goals and feel your excitement, it is just how I'm wired....that is the real Amy, but I'm going to try and be as nice to myself as I am to others from now on, I think Cheri was saying the same thing in one of her inspirations... Anyway enough of that...
I do want to say I love this group and feel like it is a huge part of me, this is the most special group I have had in the past three years on here....THANK YOU! Do we want to have like a Tri cruise together or something at the end of the season ooooowwwww what a concept
Take care, and I will check up later today.

i feel your pain jennifer! i've been there stuck on the couch more times than i can count. no sickness lasts forever, thankfully, and you'll be up chasing your little fellas again in no time.

i weighed in this morning. and i'm done. i hate my scale, and i'm not getting on it again. i need a new one.
depending on how i stand (ie:leaning forward, leaning back, leaning left, leaning right, standing straight, standing on one foot, standing on the other foot, standing right in the middle of the thing, standing with my feet far apart) i weigh anywhere between 120 and 175. according to how my clothes fit, i'd say i'm down another pound from last week. i started at 145, wanted to get down to 135 jumped up to 151, lost a pound last week, and another one this week (i'm guessing) so i'm still 149. ugh.

i ran around 25 miles in a week, and i really thought i'd be down a little more. it's the most i've ever run, EVER. and i'm proud and feeling accomplished, and at the same time-annoyed that i'm not losing weight.

i ran 4 and some odd miles yesterday, and it was a bad idea. i should have rested another day, i spent yesterday feeling pretty rotten. feet hurt, knee hurts, hips hurt, back hurts. LOL i was a wreck. so i'm taking another probably 2 days off now to try to recover, then it's back to pumping out some miles.

happy sunday everyone!!

Well we had gone to church, then came home and smelled natural gas in the  house...RIGHT BACK OUT THE DOOR WE WENT !

Gas compnay came out said it's a few tiny leaks (gaskets).... so we now have to get that fixed after just replacing the water softener $500.00, getting the water heater repaired......now we have to buy a new furnace......GREAT !

So anyway, I'm online looking for this and that for our poor house so will not get to individual inspires, but did want to check in and tell you all how special you are to me and hope you have great workouts today.

Ouch! I hope that your wrist/hand is ok...be careful- a sideways fall with outstretched arm can lead to a dislocated shoulder or elbow. Please be careful Nicole!

I hope you get some good rest and the weather clears to enable you to get out for a great ride!

Yay, Dan! Happy to hear that you got outside for a ride and the socks worked their warming magic! Also kudos for limiting your ride based on the rest of your training. It is so tough to reign it in sometimes and we often forget that rest is just as important as the training. Hope you are having a fantastic day!

Wow...Amy, I am so sorry to hear that the appointment with the doc was not all good news but I guess it is ultimately bitter sweet. The positives are really so key to your health and training in the long run which is way more important than a few races. It sounds like you are really coming to grips with it all and are way smarter than so many others who forget that there are many more races in the calendar in the months and years ahead. You have more knowledge about your body and what it needs. Do remember to take care of yourself first! I know that it isn't in your nature, but put it this way....you must take care of yourslef so that you are well enough to take care of others! And please, please, please do not ever think of yourself as 'self-involved'. That is the furthest thing from the truth and I don't think that you would be able to find a single person who would think that of you.

Take good care of you and we are here to support you!Kiss

Alyssa, you are being waaaaaaaay too hard on yourself. You should be so proud of your mileage this week. Do not bring yourself down by thinking about your weight. They are simply numbers. As you said, weight can be so varied depending on time of day, time of month, how hydrated you are, how bloated you may be, even how you might stand on your scale.... so go with how your clothes are fitting and how you are feeling. YOU are a rock-star runner- smile and be proud!
