Sorry to hear about the job stress and I hope things go in the manner that will make you. The happiest!Muskrat37 - 2013-03-20 5:00 AM It must be the time of year for professional funks. I nearly told every one that they could take their job and put it where the sun doesn't shine yesterday (insert appropriate expletives) and trust me when you work for a Christian organisation that is not going to end well. So tonight I have a board of directors meeting and one of the schools in our system has written a letter to the board "expressing their concern over the delay in them receiving their financial reports." They have done it very nicely saying that they feel that I am overloaded and the board needs to look at that, but it still feels a bit like a kick in the guts, especially when you have been working 12-14 hour days. So depending on tonight's outcome I might be hitting the job adds tomorrow. I know most of you are sleeping now but I hope when you wake up you have a fantastic day filled with blessings and peace from God and that there won't be so much cr@p going on that you can't see them.Asalzwed - 2013-03-19 12:45 PM cdban66 - 2013-03-19 2:38 PM KansasMom - 2013-03-19 3:30 PM Short update: I signed my contract for next year, so I am here for another year (at least). I am actually okay with that but my husband is still pressuring me to find another job in a friendlier climate. (What? You don't like 85 one day and 35 and snowing two days later??) My #1 son got hired on at Subway. I can't believe how excited I am about this. I think I am more excited than he is. He offered to buy me a helicopter to make my job easier. I said, "Really??? You would do that? Because that would make parenting soooo much easier for me." #2 son might pass 6th grade. Woohoo!! (Dolt! He's the brightest kid in the class. He's run into the first teacher who isn't impressed with his dashing good looks and winsome personality. She's going to make him work for it.) #1 son has his first soccer game on Saturday morning. Oh, yeah. I'm the coach! He wants me to promise that I will be his soccer coach forever and ever. Husband is finishing up his last week at the miserable job. He flies out Sunday morning to Palo Alto for a week of training. Then back for two days and out to Maryland for another week of training. Then I'm in Chicago. I get back and he flies out somewhere else. I keep reminding him that this is good stress. I'm back on my running streak. I'm not going to set a time limit/goal for it. I'm just going to run every day I can. I feel finally healthy. Completely off antibiotics and taking just 10mg of lisinopril a day. My blood pressure has been crazy low, like 95/48 with a pulse of 45. Did anyone read the WSJ article TriGirl (?) posted in COJ on "Reasons You're Not as Successful As you Should Be? I printed it out and have it taped to the wall of my office. I've got to get out of this professional funk I'm in. I love my students and teaching, and I don't mind grading when I get around to it, but I can't get excited about all of the political garbage going on. Still . . . I'm going to ask my boss for my old admin job back. I may wait to do it until June, however. I need to get my head on right before I do it. Thanks for being here. All of you. I appreciate your kindness, humor, and inspiration. I'm with you on the funk part. I gotta figure this out. Ann has OK'd me taking a week of vacation to go to bike mechanic school. I'm not sure it will help, but it would sure be fun. Finding the good and accepting the rest. We should all do so. Be careful what you ask for.... You just might get it. Sooo, professional funks don't go away eh? What's with the pro funks? (sounds like a cool band name)... I am in one too... Yeah, I can only wish I were asleep right now. |

Master 1890 Gig Harbor | Subject: RE: Mental Manatee Mentors Part 3--CLOSED Melanie - recieved the following email (canned I'm sure) from my Senator - regarding the cuts you posted about...Thought I would share. " Dear Mr. Musgrove,
Thank you for contacting me about your views regarding the federal budget and sequestration. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.
Both parties must work together to avoid the indiscriminate cuts of sequestration. That's why I'm working with both Republicans and Democrats to find a balanced, bipartisan solution that replaces sequestration and provides greater long-term certainty and predictability for the economy.
Congress must move forward on a balanced plan to reduce the deficit that eliminates waste and improves government efficiency – while protecting America's seniors, our military personnel and proven job-creation programs. But now is not the time for arbitrary cuts to key programs for economic growth in communities across Washington state and around the country.
As you know, I voted for the Budget Control Act which was signed into law on August 2, 2011. This law is helping to ensure we balance fiscal responsibility and strategic federal investments, and imposes discretionary spending limits through fiscal year 2021. In these difficult times, it is important that the United States government acts with fiscal responsibility in order to reduce the federal deficit.
Automatic spending cuts, set up by the Budget Control Act, were scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2013, equaling up to $1.2 trillion by the end of Fiscal Year 2021, with the cuts divided equally between defense and non-defense spending. The American Taxpayer Relief Act (P.L. 112-240), signed into law by President Obama on January 2, 2013, delayed the automatic spending cuts for an additional two months. Without Congress agreeing to an alternative deficit reduction solution, the automatic spending cuts went into effect on March 2, 2013.
On February 28, 2013, I voted to proceed to consideration of the American Family Economic Protection Act (S. 388). If enacted, this legislation would delay the automatic spending cuts until January 2014. As an alternative to the automatic spending cuts required under the Budget Control Act, this legislation would reduce spending by approximately $57.5 billion through the elimination of direct payments to farmers and reduced defense spending. It also would raise new revenues to reduce the deficit through imposing a minimum tax of 30 percent on incomes over $1 million, closing tax loopholes, and denying tax deductions to companies who outsource jobs. Unfortunately, this legislation, by a vote of 51 to 49, did not receive the three-fifths majority required and the legislation was not able to move forward in the Senate.
I am deeply concerned about getting our country's fiscal house in order. Government has a responsibility to spend taxpayers' dollars wisely, but it also has a responsibility to provide certain services and guarantees to the American people. In this time of economic crisis, I believe it is especially important that Congress prioritize those measures that will foster long-term economic growth. We must reinvest in our education system, in our workers, in our nation's infrastructure and in the development of clean energy technologies that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil. By making these important investments today and helping revitalize our economy, we can leave our children with prosperity not debt.
As a member of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, I will continue to work with President Obama and with my colleagues to draft legislation that will create jobs and help reduce our federal deficit. I understand that this issue is especially important to you; be assured that I will keep your views in mind as we craft legislation. I will continue to work to protect the burden of our financial deficit from being placed on the backs of the lower and middle class, and will continue to protect Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.
