I think in those cases, they feel there is a managment problem and don't blame the staff.  I would guess you are safe.

And if the boss tried to blame the staff, they didn't buy it and still dismissed him/her.

I did in 1977.

I did in 1991, same dog?

Gotta be. I was riding my orange Schwinn Varsity on vacation at the lake.

I did in 1977.

I came close.  I have been developing a canine training partner on my bike rides at the lake.  I just started using a route that goes by a farm with two huge blonde labs. It is an out and back route so I get to visit with them twice each ride.  One of them is really, really fast and likes to race with me.  She can go a mile or so with me at my sprint speed. The other just stands in the road and gets in the way.

I don't think the racer intends to bite.  She touched my leg with her head on Sunday and didn't bite down.  I am just concerned about running into her and hurting us both.  The owner and her kids have come out and tried to call the dogs off a couple of times. I will probably stop and talk to her about strategy to train the dogs to stay in the yard.  I know it will not be my athletic ability to outrun the dog because she clearly has me beat.  I am thinking of shouting "STOP" and squirting her with my water bottle to cut the race short.  The owner may have an opinion on how the dog may react.  What do you think Ms Dog Whisperer, Yanti?

From what I gather, at my boss's level, they regularly clean out underperformers. My level is safer. Note to self: don't get promoted.

Oh dear. Unfortunately you've already trained the dog that to race you is great fun ...

So it might take a bit to extinguish it, and some Labs like being squirted with water, even in the face.

However, do it. At least try it, and if it takes her aback or makes her pause, do it again. Every time. Let me know if it works or not.

It's up to you whether to talk to the owner first or not. (I'm terrible at human relations). I would ... let her know it's a safety issue for both you and the dog and you can't let it continue.

I want to startle the dog, even scare her, to get her to stop chasing. The risky thing is that I might trigger a more aggressive reaction rather than stopping her or just having her running along beside me. That is also possible.

I think the owners would be ok to talk to.  They are trying to get the dog off me already.  I would rather be sure they know I am just going to use plain water and that I really like dogs.  I would probably just love their dog under different circumstances.  She just looks like a great dog.  And, if they don't, I'll just get better on hills cause I will switch to a different route and all the other routes are much hillier than the one with the canine peloton.

My legs were mauled by a dog in 1976.  I still have teeth puncture scars and a piece of shin bone missing to remind me!

This is most likely why I am not an animal lover, that dog hurt me!

Oooh: Sorry to hear that. I had only a decent puncture and we found the dog''s owner, but needed to get the police to have them talk to us. Nothing but a childhood hassle more than anything. German pointer was the breed; still don't like them.

I love cats.  I like dogs .. some dogs I simply tolerate.  I'm not afraid of them but my legs are scarred bad and that displeases me.

My dogs are like cats and would never hurt you.  They have never growled or bitten anything/anyone.  They LOVE people and submissive.  They could hurt anyone, unless you are alergic to licks to your ankle.

Back from a super boring work lunch thing. But the food was good for once.

I was bit in the face by a dog when I was 10. Ten stitches. A centimeter either up or left and I would have no left eye. I was lucky.
