I agree - super race - well organized and of course the locals were great with support!

This was very good for its first running.  Very well put together.  My only problem with the race is the run course was about 13.5miles long and there was one corner with no volunteer and a long stretch on the way out of the park with no water.  But I give this race a thumbs up and will probably do it again next year.  I loved the bike course and how they shut down the road on the bridge.

My Garmin showed a distance of 13.18 for the run. Maybe we took the loops a little wider than we had too! I grabbed a water bottle at about the 9 mile mark and just carried it with me for the rest of the run.

If I had to complain about anything I would mention the fact that the race medal and T-shirt did not list the distances or refer to the fact that it was a "half iron distance" race. I'd also like to see the race results up on the website since I was not able to stay around for the posting.

This was a fantastic race...I am sorry to say that I had to DNF my first triathlon in an 8 year career with 3 jellyfish stings (im allergic). I made it through the bike before I started to itch, have shortness of breath, rash and an upset stomach. Just couldn't hit the run course. I guess thats why it took me 3 hours and 45 minutes to complete the bike...UGH!!

It was a pleasure to see everyone out there and I look forward to tackling this course next year. The staff was EXCELLENT, the locals were great and I will live to fight another day

Melissa, sorry to hear about your DNF.  There were a few people in medical when I was there dealing with jellyfish stings.  Glad I didn't see any.

Rob, I am really just going by what it said on there website mapping for distance.  If your Garmin is accurate that is great.  Would have been nice to have a medal that said HIM or had distances or something.  But the first year and I think things will improve.  Otherwise I still think they did a really good job.

Melissa,

I introduced myself to you in transition before the start.

It was very nice to meet you and I am sorry to hear about your run in with the jelly fish.

Have a great taper and I will look for you at IMFL!

 Courtney

Does anyone recall what company did our chip timing?  I would like to look up my times but it appears DRC is lagging a bit today.

The race results went up sometime Sunday evening. I got 4th place in the 45-49 age group; it seems like I am always too slow to be in the medals! I guess I need to train harder. Congratulations to all the finishers, and Melissa, I know you'll whip this thing next year. We'll get Sponge Bob out there before the race to get rid of all the jelly fish!

Awards for this race went 5 deep, so 4th place scores you a medal or something.   Congrats.

Hey Rgrets, the top 5 in each age group got awards. Call him up and he might send it to you, unless you had someone already pick it up for you. And congratulations. I hope to improve my placement next year. This year I was happy to just hobble across the finish line with my son!

Awards went 5 deep!!!!! Dang, I finished 6th in my AG. Oh well. I thought the race was awesome. I did the OLY and had a great time. The Pirates at one of the water stops were funny. Overall, it was a great experience. Sorry to hear about the jellyfish, though.

Well hot diggity-dog. I guess I need to start reading better. I'll check with Chris Moling and see if I can still acquire my award since I was unable to make it to the awards breakfast.

I loved the different themed water stops as well. The pirates, hippies, and hula girls were memorable.

regretsof let me know if you get a response from Chris.

I placed 4th in my group, but could not go to the breakfast either.

I would love some hardware, no matter how trivial

Thanks for the info. Any idea what kind of awards were they giving out? I have not heard back from Chris yet, but I am sure he will respond eventually. He's probably taking a well deserved break! I wish I would have been able to meet some of you fellow BT'ers out there, but I was preoccupied trying to help my nephew with his first half. I'm wondering if there are any Bt'ers out there that heard his back tire explode there in the transition area early Saturday morning. That woke me up better than a cup of coffee!

Just got an email back from Chris Moling and he said he would be glad to send out my award and that it should go out this week.
