I did 2000m today in the pool and felt like poo. It makes me nervous. But I have found I do much better race day then in trainning. My goal is to be out of the water before Tanya passes me. I do have a 15minute jump start. But I am not sure. I know at some point she will pass me. But if I can hold it out till the run I will feel better.

#2 goal: I will not get passed by a Speed Walker!

Just as a reminder, this is a SATURDAY BIKE CHECK IN race.  So you need to bring your bike with you when you pick up your packet.  You will then rack it in your assigned spot.  You cannot bring your bike with you on the morning of the race.

Not my point, my point is you probably do not need to be doing such long swims training for a sprint race. Especially this close to the race. Go crank out some shorter drills and that will get your confidence up for the race!

**It's COOL to be slow..no worries!

I am kinda like Adam. I may not be fast but I can cover the distance. I do 2000m but I do it in 800m then 800 and I throw a nother 400 just to round it out. I will be ok. I just like to be fast and now I am in a sport that is proving very hard for me to be fast at. Half of doing the 2000 is building confidence that if I can do that in the pool I will be able to tell myself that it is ok in the lake and not freak out because I know I can cover the distance.

I don't need to hiperventalate like I did the last race.

Sunday will be a good day. I will do much better than last time. I have made huge improvments since last time.

About Saturday bike check in........I haven't had to check my bike in the day before a race yet. Should I just pump my tires up before I bring it saturday or should I still bring pump for sunday. Also, we can put our water bottles on bike on Sunday right? Thanks!

You can do any of that if you like.  You can bring your pump Sunday, or roll it over to the bike shop tent and have them top them off for you, or borrow someone's pump.  I personally do not put the bottles on the night before.  If someone stole them and you showed up on race day and had nothing to hold your water, you're toast.

Dont worry aboput being slow in the water. Most of us biggins' (hippopotamus) tend to be gliders in the water. Were slow, but on dry land we can reach speeds up to 30mph... Just dont let anyone pull your tail...

A grad program at ASU couldn't be complete without a co-ed sleep over. How else would you study and apply the nocturnal mating rituals of smei-consenting and inebriated adults?
