Havin'Fun - 2010-11-07 7:32 PM OMG, between football and a swim meet I have been gone all day.  I just got home and "for fun" decided to log in and see for myself that IMFL had sold out (my plan is to sign up next year for '12).  If it was sold out then it was fate that has me waiting another year.  Damn, now I am really torn.  I was really ok waiting until 2012...that was when I was sure it would sell out while I was busy doing kid stuff today.

Congrats Barry and Chris for registering.  I will be there - either to  race with you or to cheer you guys on & register.

Oh, what to do what to do.

Edited to add:  IT'S NOT SOLD OUT - hence my dilema

Just saw your post...  So any exciting news??  Are you in for 2011??  I wish I had seen it last night, Barry and I could have shamed you into it if you didn't.

Sticking to my plan...racing it in '12.  But, I'll be following you and Barry like crazy for the next year.
It's a great race, you'll  have a blast!

DougRob - 2010-11-05 2:52 PM Just got back from my 2nd PT session. She got my hip aligned this visit. She thought it would take 3 or 4. MY left leg is about 1/2 inch shorter than my right.

She then had me do a balance test. I stood on one leg on a Bonsu (Sic) ball and then bent my knee. Talk about humbling! My leg was shaking! Turns out my instablity is from my feet and ankles (Surprise NOT) and I have god strngth in my hips. She gave me an exercise to do every other day for 5-10 reps a shot. There a PITA literally. I also asked if I should continue to do the exercises she gave me last time. Her answer: "For the rest of your life." (sigh)

Anyway I am only allowed to run very limited amounts for now. Basically 2 minute intervals for a mile. We'll reevaluate at my next session. I envy all of you that get to run now.

Hang in there Doug.  I did the same balance test and failed just as miserably.  But I've kept up with the exercises and have seen a huge improvement.  The balance work makes sense when you realize you are continually balancing on one leg or the other the entire time you are running.  Stay tuff and enjoy your running break.

Looks like it was an exciting weekend.  Congrats on Barry and Chris for Florida.  Linda will be racing her Triple T in 2011 right? Wink  Then FL in 2012.

John,  sorry to hear about the race but you made the right decision.  If you have any lingering doubts just remember our gymnast MG buddy who was out the year from tripping on a root.  Not worth it.  But I do hope your tummy is feeling better soon.

Stan, craziness about the fireworks.  I saw on the news this morning the Chilian miner who raced with ice bags taped to his knees.  They said he ran every day the entire time he was trapped in the mine.  Wasn't that 70 days? Can you imagine trying to train in those conditions.  He has my complete admiration. What a strong sole.

One more quick thought then I'll stop with the posting.  I found a great way to pass the time on the trainer.  If you need to just put in time (not complicated workouts) then watch a movie with subtitles.  I watched The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo this weekend on the trainer.  You have to keep your eyes on the screen the whole time otherwise you miss the dialog.  Therefore I wasn't watching the computer slowly tick by on time and distance.  Very nice distraction.

I know he ran 6 miles a day down there. He's a no excuse type of guy. We stopped by the race, it was amazing. It was like a party. Hundreds of thousands of people cheering like crazy. Now I know why it took them over 2 wks to prepare for this thing. They said there were over 100 countries represented and all states as well. Pretty cool. Mens champ was greeting and shaking hands with many of the finishers as well.

Nice job Trevor!  I found my best pre race meal is brats, bacon wrapped jalapenos, and beer.  Works wonders for sprint tri's.

I was doing timing from 3 - 6 (great job by the way), so basically I was standing right beside the finish writing down the bib # and times, so I was there when the 2 pros crossed and was literally standing within arms reach of their interview with the announcer.

Well, when britches came across the line, my helper and I looked at each other a little bewildered, like where in the hell did he get muddy?  Then she said "SMELL".  It was aweful, and the announcer guy walked over to us to chat about it.  I asked him if he were going to make some sort of smart comment on the PA, but he declined.  It was pretty funny.  I would not have wanted to be his CATCHER.
