7 Day already....wowsa!!  Thanks all.  It really has helped having you here.  I think the reason it has seemed fairly easy is BECAUSE of you.  Letting me know what to expect so I wasn't surprised.  By knowing I am aware before it gets bad and I can laugh at myself.  So even if I seem to be non chalant I want you to know it is mostly the knowledge and support from you that has given me that strength.

Anytime.

Here to help.

Just putting it in perspective.

In reality, though, the first week IS the toughest (at least it was for me).  Keep it up brother.  We are here for you.

Thanks again Never.

Just for the heck of it here is what I have been eating most days:

BETWEEN 5AM and 5PM

1 cinnamon raisin bagel (every other day)

1 cup baby carrots

1 cup red grapes

1.5 cups 2% milk with protein powder (52grams)

2 slices whole grain bread w/ 5 deli slices of lean ham (35 cals)

3-4 wintergreen mints 10 cals

2-3 pieces plus 5 gum = less then 5 cals

When I get home is when I start the carb binging.

4-8 saltines

1-2 cookies

2-3 graham crackers

2 mints and maybe a gum

Dinner a about 5 varies:  Chicken breast and brown rice.  Filet mignon, corn, baked potato.  Had soup last night w/ crackers.

To tell you the truth I don't know if I am eating more because I have an excuse or because I need to to keep my thoughts off cigs.  I will say my BF% and waist is staying the same even though I have gained 8 lbs in the last few months.  I do chest/back/ab work most every day.  Run every other day and just started getting back on the bike.  I have been quite lazy.  Okay ramble off.

Thanks for putting up with me everyone.

This is all great stuff, most of the food at this point is nerves and stress related, your body is still going through withdraws, its ok though! There is plenty of time in the future for weight control if   need be, focus on the quit!

Thanks never an Crowny...  I will keep on keeping on for a while and then I will worry about weight (unless my pants don't fit).  On an upside I ran 6 miles today and was able to run mile 1 and mile 5 at about 8:30 min mile.  For me that is like the Flash.....!!

Thanks guys I was surprised.  However,  According to my "Plan" it was supposed to be a 4 mile run with 2 miles at 9:45.  I wanted to see what would happen if I pushed a little and wow my shoes caught on fire....LOL.

1 week in the books

Been doing great BPACH.  Seemed a bit harder this weekend mentally,  but hung strong.  I must say that the weight gain is going to start getting to me soon.  I don't think I am eating that much,  but apparently I am.  My pants are still fitting loose so I am not worried too much ,  but I WILL NOT  GET BACK INTO 32-33's!!!!!!!!!  Running has been fun.  The only thing slowing me down is that my plan calls for sloo-o-o-w runs,  but I feel great.

congrats!!

I quit smoking in 1985... 24 years ago.  To this day I have to say "no" to cigarettes... it's not a hard no, but it's a no nevertheless.  Do I want one?... sure.  Do I smoke one?  no.

you're on your way to a much healthier life... just know that you can NEVER pick up that cigarette again... never.

That never is the part that is hard to get my head around.  I know I shouldn't eat pizza. but once in awhile gosh dang it I am eating pizza.  Thanks to you guys I am learning about that addiction thing.

It gets worse though.  Now my wife wants me to go to the doctor.....Whats up with that?  I was perfectly healthy the last time I saw the doctor (in 1992).  I figure (wrongly I know) that they will say I am healthy or I am going to die.  IF I am healthy life is good if they say I am going to die I will not be too happy.  So I pick ignorant.

I had pizza Friday night. It was the only thing I wanted and shared with my roommate and had leftovers so I didn't eat too much. Sometimes ya gotta, honey!

"Never" is too much for me to wrap my head around. I figure "not now" or "just for today." Today I will put a sober and nonsmoking head on my pillow. That's all I need to do. Just tonight.

Good point Triaya,  It is just for today.

I guess today is day 11 since Thursday is day 14.  So far I am happy with my progress except for weight gain.  I haven't been mean or irritable.  My wife is proud of me.  I still think you all are a BIG, BIG help.

Brian, we are ALL proud of you!

The weight gain will probably be minor and fade away as you continue training. I'm on week 6 and haven't gained any weight YAAAAAY!

I haven't been mean or irritable, but very, very forgetful. More than usual.

Good point Triaya,  It is just for today.

I remember when I first went to AA for help getting sober *(I know, I know, how did a Type-B invade this world of Ridiculous Type A's) Tongue out, anyway, I was amazed at the # of people that had 5, 10, 20 years sober and here I was with 1 or 2 DAYS, thinking I'll never get that long.  I am now over 12.5 years!  And I did it all just as Triaya says, One Day at a Time!

Congrats on getting to Double digits Days...and Just for Today you don't have to smoke! Way to go!

Almost done with day 13 and tomorrow is 2 weeks.  May sound cocky, but it hasn't been too bad.  I blame that on you guys and things that I read that prepared me.  When I thought of making deals....Whammo,  You had told me about that.  When I think about just "one"  BLAM...ya'll told me about that.  I think the support and the knowledge has made this as painless as possible.

Have you notice how you can smell more things in your enviroment, not the smoke smell....although when you meet somebody that does smoke, you will know it from yards away......and wonder what the heck did I smell like.

Also, you should have a big cookie jar or piggy bank and everyday put in the $$$ that you would have spent....Pretty soon it will be time to buy some nice toys....

One day at a time.  Keep it going.

Good for you!...bravo!   ...Dear boy, have a cigar. You're gonna go far,.......

Curious though. Have you noticed any difference training wise? I know it takes several months for the physical detriments to start to reverse, but thought I'd ask.
