Subject: RE: 10 Week Trim Challenge! 14th July - 22nd SeptemberI've finally broken my three week 174 curse. Weighed in this morning at 172.2 ... and we'll round that down to 172!! I'm finally back on the "eating right bandwagon", I'm at the Peak of my HIM training, I've got an X-terra this Sunday ... my goal for next Monday is 169. Great job everyone. And for all of you who didn't lose, keep the faith. I just read in my Runners World magazine... or was it Traithlete magazine? ... Anyway: You have to cut your calorie intake 300-500 calories per day for a week in order to lose a full pound. That little fact helped me. |

I have to do better on race weeks. I slow down on exersize and do not watch caloric intake. Then I use the triathlon as an excuse to over indulge on the weekend. On the other hand had a great race this weekend. Did the degray Lake Sprint. Had goal of 1:45 and finished in 1:42. I need to work on run a 36 minute 5k is terrible. |

I know I'm going to miss my goal of 175, but I have a chance of getting 185 if I stay disciplined on the weekends. Another thing I don't quite understand is that I went down a belt notch - not-inhale-and-pull down a notch, but comfortably down a notch! |

Well I must have been retaining water yesterday, step on scales this morning and weighed 253. What is up with that. I was disappointed yesterday because I knew that I had been putting in work and eating right. I feel much better now! Does this every happen to anybody else? |

Member 103![]() | Subject: RE: 10 Week Trim Challenge! 14th July - 22nd SeptemberI've noticed that water weight makes a big difference. If I eat something fairly salty at night I wind up putting on anywhere from 1-2 pounds overnight--regardless of where I wound up in terms of calories for that previous day. Conversely, drinking a good amount of water (no, not all at once) during the day seems to reduce the amount of water I'm lugging around with me... Since Monday's our weigh-in day, I make sure that Sunday's meals are all low sodium and that I get plenty of water. It seems cheesy, maybe, but it helps me stay motivated. |

Expert 724![]() ![]() ![]() Simi Valley | Subject: RE: 10 Week Trim Challenge! 14th July - 22nd SeptemberOkay - incoming motherhenning!!! You have been warned. I took a good fall on the beach Sunday and have been resting, which means I have nothing better to do then track data - now you are in trouble. We had 30 people express interest in this challenge. Below is the data on who is still posting and the last time people weighed in. Grats to the 8 of you that have been most consistent. Here's hoping the summer months have people on vacation and away from keyboards. I know that for me, without the consistency of checking in with you all, I would be signing up for one of these every other month (probably 5 pounds heavier than the last time). |

Regular 112![]() Delaware | Subject: RE: 10 Week Trim Challenge! 14th July - 22nd SeptemberWow! You guys are doing great, esp BRD & Merlyn. I feel like I've been left in the dust. Back to starting weight of 176. Do okay until I get home. DH has health problems & wants comfort food and I cave in too easily. Plus, with that stress, having all the responsibility at home AND his expressing that he doesn't want me to do this is frustrating. But when it comes down to it - I'm the only one that can control what I eat. Anyone in a similar situation? Suggestions welcome. |

That's a rough situation, Sparkle. It's extremely hard to do something like this without support--and even harder if someone is against it. Take this with a grain of salt, since I may not have all the facts: You may want to explain that you're trying to get healthier for him, and how much it means to you to do this. If he has health issues, is it possible that a healthier lifestyle may have benefits for him, too? Comfort food is like using alcohol to comfort a case of the blues--it's false comfort, and doesn't do anything to actually help. The bottom line may come down to you having just do it for yourself, regardless of the obstacles. I know that's harder, but it still can be done. It could mean making a separate meal for yourself of healthier food, or just cutting the portions back to keep under a certain calorie level (I'd recommend tracking what you eat, either here or another similar site, like fitday.com--takes some of the guesswork out of it). Finally, use this place as motivation, inspiration, and your sanctuary while you're on this journey. |
