Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Cead_Mille_Failte - 2009-07-09 2:11 AM Hi All, Just a quick update from Ireland. Last weight checked on Sun showing 73,3kg. From other news I've been in hospital since Sunday (and my mum only arrived on Fri). I woke up and couldn't breathe so ended up in A&E To cut story short- after a number of blood samples being taken (my arms are purple) and CT scan they discovered multiple clots in my lungs. My consultaant told me it was a good call to keep me here cos it could have been compleltly different story. And why they were thinking about letting me go home? And here I quote "Because youre so fit and all the standard tests they do for A&E patients were perfect". The only reason they took blood from my artery (sooooooooooooo painful) to check for clots was because I gave them a very detailed account of the incidents with my sore legs. Anyways, feeling all better now and hope to go home tomorrow but that's if I'll be able to gove myself injections in the tummy - I'm really anxious to go home, especially that I haven't slept properly since Sun, but I'm a linguist and needles are not my thing. Also my consultant mentioned no training for a month. Shocked with the news I agreed first but now I'm getting ready for negotiations. Ok will check in when I get home with more details Apologies for all the spelling mistakes- using mobile internet. Have a good day! Wow! I am so sorry to hear this. In a funny sort of coincidence, ChrisM, another Bt-er, was just hospitalized with clots in the lungs. I haven't seen recently how he is doing, but hopefully much better. Do a search on this site and you might get some insight into his condition and compare it to yours. I think the title of the thread was something about a sick BT-er and was in COJ. Do you think that clots in the lungs is turning into some sort of pandemic? Cead Mille Failte is in Ireland and ChrisM is in Los Angeles. Looks kind of world-wide to me. Maybe I should start wearing a mask and being afraid to get on an airplane. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() trysprintolympic - 2009-07-08 6:07 AM I have had a really rough last two days - no sleep, no exercise, lots of fast food and sweets. I'm up a few pounds, but hoping that's only temporary water weight. My yoga teacher was talking this morning about the full moon and its effects on our bodies... I'm going to blame it on that and hope next week is better. On the flip side, I'm also thinking about taking time off of weight loss in general for a few months. It's so hard with the baby and I'm so tired and unmotivated. I just end up feeling like crap and angry with myself, when instead I should be proud that I lost the baby weight and am staying active. I'll reassess where I sit with all this at the end of July! Jenna - I so hear you about getting discouraged and all of that. So, take some time off from active weight loss pursuits, but just don't do anything that causes you to gain weight. I am a big believer in the value of letting your body get used to its new (lighter) weight before asking it to adjust to another new (lighter) weight. My advice would be to continue to exercise and eat healthfully (stay away from fast food and sweets), but don't let yourself gain weight, but just don't try to lose any. Then start again on the weight loss wagon in August. All you will have lost will be a couple weeks and will most likely feel a little stronger or more motivated. Just focus on healthful eating, not weight-loss eating. Good luck and don't let yourself get so tired that you don't enjoy your baby. I know from experience that babies don't stay babies forever (and that is very, very good, but also a little sad). |

Just a warm up you will rock it!!!!! I am doing a little 10K on Sunday. Not a race, but a nice little run to a terrific restaurant where they make wonderful multigrain pancakes. It is about six miles and I run there and then my fella meets me and we have multigrain pancakes and an omelette. We each eat 1/4 of the pancakes and omelette and then take the other half home and have the identical breakfast the next day. Go ahead and try to top THAT 10K. On Saturday I am going to bike approximately 30 miles of my HIM course. The HIM is in October and it is time to get serious about my biking. Wish my luck that I don't have to walk any (or much) ot it. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have been re-reading a book called "The Four Day Win" by Martha Beck. Seriously, the best book I have ever read about the mental side of losing weight and how you need to change how you THINK if you are going to be a successful long term loser. I admit a few of the things seem kind of hokey - but there's a whole lot more of it that really rings true for me. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() hmmmm..... I weighed in this morning, and realized I'm down 3 lbs so far this week. I know weight can fluctuate a bit day to day, but I'm wondering if maybe I'm restricting my calories too much?? Think I'll add 100 or so the next few days and see what happens. I only want to loose the FAT, not any muscle!!! |

Probably no more than 15 - 20 minutes maybe 2 or 3 times/week. Edited by jsnowash 2009-07-10 6:35 AM |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Dang that was quick.. Still thinking it is water weight since I find it hard to believe you have shorted yourself 10000 calories this week. How many cals are you eating a day? I am one of the few that believe that bodyweight training is every bit as good as full weight training in many ways. I will do 1 arm pushups at the 3/6 mile mark as well as some pullups, just in case I don't get a real workout when I get home. Pushups and pullups work just about every muscle in your upper body. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() About to head out for a run... but just looked up my calories (according to what I've recorded on FitDay), and looks like Mon - Thurs I've consumed approx. 8855 calories (shooting for between 2,000 - 2,300/day, most days being more in the 2,100 - 2,200 range), and done about 8 hours of tri training so far this week. (my other stats: 5' 8.5", current weight 154-ish, 46 year old F). And yes - I LOVE body weight exercises, if nothing else for the sheer simplicity!! I'm often throwing in a few squats or lunges while I'm in the kitchen fixing dinner - LOL!!! |

You can, Saling. Just be at my house at about 6:45 Sunday morning. I time my (very slow) run to be there when the restaurant opens at 8am. The beauty of this run (other than that mighty fine breakfast) is that it is only one way. I get a ride home. |

THat is cud. That should be illegal to change size tags like that. I don't think for a minute that any of us are here purely for vanity (okay maybe me). |

Not just the health issues, which seem bad enough, but the implications (not being able to wear your beautiful 2-piece Orca tri suit this season) and all of the uncertainty. BUT, you have great medical care and what might have been a bigger problem in an earlier century, is likely to be more manageable now. And there is always next season and the beautiful tri suit will be there waiting for you and we all be here cheering you on. You will get through this. I haven't read your posts since I've been on BT without believing that. |

I don't get the multigrain pancakes until tomorrow morning. There's still time to drive to LA and join me. This morning I did a very hilly, but pitiful on distance, bike ride (12 miles, not the projected 30) and had fresh strawberries, cereal (high fiber/high protein) and peach yogurt for breakfast/reward. I have never had a protein shake in my life and never intend to start. Food, real food. |
