Yeah, I was at a shower a few years ago and before people realized that I couldn't have kids, I was getting raked over the coals for not popping out at least one already. It's always fun to listen to them gang up on me and tell me all kinds of crap about being a parent (my personal fave was being told it was "my duty to society to procreate") and then tell them that I can't have any because of a radical hysterectomy from CANCER. That shuts 'em up every time. YOUR DUTY TO SOCIETY? maybe it's meant as a compliment....like you are smart and interesting and hard working and would raise a little person better than a lot of people out there that are having them? ok ok even i don't believe that. Yeah, that's the point of the baby shower where I started drinking heavily. |
