Quick question - so for the purposes of both the century ride training and kicking NL's a$$ at the April 461.3 challenge, I need to be able to log actual mileage on the trainer. The computer on my bike is wireless, but it's set up on the front wheel. Am I going to have to get a new computer? Or would I be able to simply move the sensor and the magnet from the front to the back? I don't know if the range on those things is good enough, if I left the computer up front, where it is. The computer comes off its mount, of course, but I'd need to have it where I could see it so I know how far I've gone. I feel like there are ones that are special that you can mount in the back, but I can't really afford to get another one, esp. if it's going to be pricey.

Whatever number of hours you do, just multiply it by 10.5, and there's your mileage.

I don't trust you...:-P I am getting an ACCURATE count, every time.

Fine, ok, was just trying to be generous. Ok, multiply by 10. More accurate? No computer needed.

That depends on whether she is going to make it realisitic; up hill and down hill are different. Up hill x 10, down hill x 4.5

Don't forget "with roommate S chasing from behind: x 20"

No, S is the normal one.

And I'd rather just log as accurate mileage as possible. There is a 12-mile loop nearby that I was doing last summer in under an hour, for example.  Every tenth of a mile is going to count in this...

Okay, someone needs to explain this to me. What's the deal with everyone posting "3558 here". Is it kind of like "that's what she said"? Seeing as how it was the response to what slakey just posted, that's all I can think of...

Well, one way to explain it is you could have replaced your entire question\post with "3558 here"

Ok...

1. Slake said he was cheating and only running for 10 minutes, though posting longer runs
2. I said, darn our secret was that I was pulling him in a burley device, like those little things towed behind a bike for kids
3. And slake said, that is why our nearly 10 min mile pace was so slow. Because it was hard work to pull 190 pounds on trails

10-minute miles is good for tough mountain biking & real good for running; poor for road bikes though, unless your taking your road bike on moutain bike trails, then it is impressive.

I did not get the burley reference; the one I have for Alex is made by my favorite bike manufacturer:  Schwin, I wonder if they have any TRI bikes?

running more=faster

I think you can do a 9:30 for CB.. push yourself to do sub 10. u did 7 at 9:30 so it is def. possible.. everybody post your CB goals

mine is aggressive for me (the worst is I miss my goal and still have a great run), but thats how I roll.. sub 1:30 aka sub 9:00

Yeah, I felt pretty great all throughout the 7, and recovery was good - god bless ice packs and the Stick (that thing really seems to work).

Now I just have to figure out how I'm gonna structure my running for the next couple of months - if I am able to sign up for MCM, I figure I'll have to start training in June-ish. Doesn't guarantee that I'll be able to do - I am hoping that I stave off injuries; I know some people's bodies just can't handle those distances. But my former boss did it last year, training properly of course, and she had NO running base whatsoever, not to mention the fact that she had both knees operated on 2 years prior. So I am hopeful.

Any thoughts as to what I should do for the next 2 months or so? I'd like to get a bit faster, if possible, for the shorter tri distances (3.1, esp), cuz I'd love for my Oly 10K time to not suck come September.
