If the race was this coming Sunday could you do any one, any two or the three distances with the level of fitness that you have right now?.  Time is not important, but you have to be confident that you will finish.

You are asking how prepared we are to any/all/part of an IM if it was this weekend?

I read this a couple times as I was unsure what you meant...I still may be wrong.

I couldn't swim or run that far today or next weekend. Bike I could probably do but it would be challenging.

I could probably suffer through the bike and run but would struggle mightly to get through the swim, might even need yanked out.

Hence my goals for January are simple: SWIM LOTS!

I am sure I could finish the swim and run. The bike on the other hand would be painful. Need to get more time in the saddle.

I am sure I could waddle through each event but not strung together.

The lake is something like 35 degrees.  I would not even try the swim this weekend.

A lot of the bike course is covered in snow and ice.  Again, maybe I'm a wimp but I'm not ready for 112 miles of slipping and sliding.

The run course is probably passable, but without the swim and bike it's just another marathon.

Now if you move the race were somewhere warm I think I could go sub 17 this weekend.

I am pretty sure I could do the swim and bike. I haven't gone longer than like 40 miles on my new bike (made the switch from road to tri bike), so my neck and back could get a little frustrated half way through; but otherwise, I think I would survive. "Survive" being the key word .

35 is right. I was in it Tuesday. Lasted about 15 seconds. BBBRRR!

I figure I could do the bike...swim well maybe but it wouldn't be pretty...at 35 degrees call me a wimp but I'd DNS. Now if we were in FL or CA or some other warm nice place I could probably get thru the swim portion.

Bike I could do, run longest run since my HIM in October 5 miles..I probably could walk it.

With 17 hours don't think I could do all three nor would I want to this weekend...July I want to do all three.

Already swimming the distance in my training and am pretty sure I could muster the bike. Still having some funky post-Chicago IT band tweakage that would make the run a challenge, but I'm sure I could at least walk it!

So Shermbelle, have you decided to stick with CDA, or are you still trying to get into IMLP? Just wondering if I'm going to have to carry West Michigan solo or not.

I'm laughing at how "literal" everyone's post is. I think the thread starter just wanted to know if we could do the distances right now with our fitness not IN Idaho but anywhere.

Swim would be no problem. Got a new tri bike so that would be a struggle. And the run - well I don't necessarily think I run now so I could probably, "jog" about 1/2 of the marathon and then walk the rest.

Looking forward to June, but if we were racing this Sunday... I would be able to do all three distances, but I wouldn't be able to walk for a couple of days!!

I can't wait until we're standing on the beach listening to the loud music and anticipating the
canon to go off for the journey to begin!
