I will admit that I haven't completely embraced the ice bath after a long run - but can say the couple of times I have tried it - I did feel better later on and especially the next day. But tonight after my long run and during my soak in an ice bath I noticed some muscle twitching during my soak. Especially in my hamstrings - no pain or anything - almost like electricity was activating some different areas - a time or two for maybe 20-30 seconds at a time but for the most part just 3-5 sec before passing on that area. Anyone else ever experience this? Or was this a flashback from some of the things I did 20 years ago that I shouldn't have?

I get what you've described almost every time I've ice-bathed.  It must be common.

I think it's just electrical impulses, or muscle twitching.

I think that the muscle contractions are natural. If you think about stretched, warm, torn muscle fibres being submersed in cold water, they're going to shrink and maybe not always without some complaining, hence the twitching. How's that explanation from someone with zero physiological anatomy background?

I get little, involuntary contractions in my calf muscles after I cycle, and no ice bath is required.  I don't think what you are experiencing is terribly abnormal.  I have wondered if it indicates an electrolyte issue whenever I've seen it occur, though, but it hasn't killed me yet.
