Hi, all. Brad (also known as B_Rad) here from Denver, Colorado. I stumbled across this site while trying to pin down some tri training regimens. After digging in further, it suddenly appeared that there's quite the community going on here. I'm a relatively recent transplant to CO. I spent the last decade or so slogging it out in the frozen upper-Midwest, namely Minneapolis. I have to admit, CO is pretty much as advertised. In any event, I'm a long time cyclist w/ a few centuries under my belt, and finally took the plunge into the tri world. I look forward to hearing other's stories and perhaps even meeting a few of you down the road. Cheers!

Ahhh...I just returned from a trip to CO around the Denver area, the mountains and sunsets are spectacular.

With your biking background, you have at least half of the triathlon distance convered and probably have a great base to transition into the sport.

Welcome and good luck!

Hi there Brad!  Welcome to BT.  I think you've already found the CO forum, so keep an eye out there for group workouts--we have group rides pretty regularly, and once it warms up we'll often meet up out at the Chatfield Gravel Pond for open water swimming and other swimming.

Hope to meet you soon!

Shannon

Yes, welcome!  BT is a great place to meet people to train with.

Are you doing Chilly Cheeks or Frosty's Frozen this weekend?  There will be lots of BTers at both races.

Thanks, all, for the warm welcome. I agree w/ most of your claims that this is a great place to ride. Got a good smack-down at Left Hand earlier last summer. For as much hill-training I did back in the Midwest, I was humbled big time on the first major hill rides we did. Have a new appreciation for compact cranks :-)

Might suit up for the Frosty's Five, but not sure yet. Plans are to hit the slopes Sat. I'm a big fan of cross-training, but seeing as I haven't been out to the hills in almost 4 weeks, legs might be a wee limp after a day in the bowls. Not to mention the Packers are playing in the NFC Championship game that afternoon (born a cheesehead, always a cheesehead). Might need to conserve energy to ensure proper beer-drinking form can be maintained through the entire 4 quarters...

B-Rad, I from CO born and raised. Now I live in the frozen north to be exact Eagan MN. I have a house about 30 min S of Breckenridge that I do not see enough of. How's the training going? What races do you have planed? You do any climbing? Hope to be back some day. Craig

Craig,

Eagan, eh? I spent over ten years in Minneapolis before moving out here. I really like the area, but felt it was time for a change. Can't say I miss the -10 degree temps though!

Have a few races lined up for this season, namely the 5430 series (boulder) and a couple other sprints. Training is starting to ramp up. Focus right now is building some volume on the run.

I've been out to Breck a few times this snow season. If you need anyone to check up on that house near there, just drop a line :-)
