Mesa | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona clarkar12 - 2008-02-21 10:55 AM I'm just looking for a little local advise or prior participant experience. I will be flying to the event and had not planned on using a rental car. I believe the hotel is located near ASU, in Tempe. Getting to my question, are there sufficient restaurants nearby that I will be able to utilize for a good carbo-loading in the days leading up to the 13th? Is anyone else staying right near the Tempe town lake? Andy, You also get a Pasta Dinner at the Friday night pasta feed/race meeting. Don't sweat any of these things as it'll all come together for you when you get here. |

Expert 936 Salisbury | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona Uh oh I have a delema! I'm planning on shipping my bike from Philadelphia via Tribike Transport. I'll be arriving in AZ on 4/5 (trying to get used to time zone plus a little sight seeing) The problem is my bike won't arrive until 4/10 which means I don't have my bike for 5 days. Is there a reliable bike shop in Tempe that would rent me a bike to do some of my taper rides that week? |

I am. Although, today it was 55 where we're going. I'm brining my helmet also...just in case I can get out on the roads. TJ |

Member 34 | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona I'm also working on my final build up, and can see the taper now! I have a question for those that have prior experience shipping a bike. How early should you start the process? I have already contacted Tribe bike shop in Tempe, but I'm note sure how early to plan the shipping aspect (FedEx). I hope everyone's training is going well! Master 1534 San Diego, CA | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona I'm going to be in Tempe doing some training on the course on 3/8 and 3/9. I'll be driving out from San Diego with some other guys who are doing the race, and also joining up with some of the Az Tri Club folks who are doing the race. We're staying a hotel close to the race site, so it will be a good time to start getting pumped up !! Anybody want to join us?? We're still ironing out the training details, but likely a long ride (2 loops on the course), followed by a short run on Sat, and then maybe a short ride, followed by a long run (1-2 loops?) on the run course. I'd love to have some BT folks out there too!! Edited by dhyte 2008-03-01 12:38 PM |

Master 1831 Keller Tx | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona I had one of the worst rides i've ever had. I had to cut short at 3hrs because I was having severe IT pain. It was definitely a big picture day. Quit early so I don't hurt myself for good.....It really was that bad. I went to the LBS and had them look at it, and apparently my cleat had slipped.....they fixed it, and I hope thats the last of that problem. For now I am icing it, and using the midevil torture device known as the stick to work it out. |

I was already planning on heading out Saturday for 2-3 loops on the bike. I would like to do 3 easier than I plan to race it, but I don't want to do that too close to the race, so I am running out of time. When/where are you starting??? Tempe Beach Part (right where the start/transition area is) is where my Wed night group usually meets for our runs. |
