I went to the meeting last year, there is no way of them knowing if you were there are not, you just walk in and grab a seat. They just go over the rules and the course, I don't think it would be a big lost if you missed it. I would arrive early to the race, only one road leading into the park and it can be log jam. My Wife and sister-in-law came about 30 minutes before the start and had to park far away and just made it before the road closed.

Thanks, the RD did get back with me and said I didn't have to attend, but needed to let them know I would not be picking up my packet on Friday. So of course I'm flip flopping on what to do. Probably will come down to Muncie on Friday during the day to check things out, pick up my packet, then return Saturday morning. I do a lot of out of town races in Indiana and Ohio so leaving home at 4:30am or so isn't a big deal.

If all the Muncie hotels are booked, the Harris Chapel allows athletes to sleep on their floor and you could also try hotels in Anderson (west of Muncie though).  There IS a little motel in Winchester on hwy 27....think it's called the Overpass Motel.  Never stayed there, but a bed is a bed and it would probably be quiet.  You could try Richmond too.

I forgot about the Harris Chapel, I had some friends stay there last year, they have cots set up and you can move them around, they went down stairs to one of the class rooms and said they were the only ones in there, the gave the church a donation, but staying there is free and it's only about a 1 mile from the start, you should look in too that.

Not that it will be much help, but I may be canceling my reservation at the Signature Inn closer to the race date, as the wife would prefer to camp near the race site and not have to drive to the race from town (doesn't care for driving in unfamiliar areas). I'm thinking the hotel sounds nicer though so it's not 100% certain what were doing, and another post has me a little concerned about canceling to early if something happens to the campground.
