Total Time = 1h 16m 20s
Overall Rank = 42/153
Age Group = 40-49
Age Group Rank = 8/13
Pre-race routine:

My bed looked so good. Felt pretty crappy this morning, ate some oatmeal drank some water and had a long shower. Looked at the warm bed some more but got into my race clothes and off I went.
Event warmup:

Tried riding around on the MTB a bit in the snow, ran for a bit.
Run
  • 12m 7s
  • 1.5 miles
  • 08m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

Started out a bit fast maybe, felt really bad the first half mile or so, then settled into a stride. At the end of the run I had a blazing headache like my head was about to explode.
What would you do differently?:

Start a little easier but not much.
Transition 1
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

Little difficult to buckle the helmet, which actually came loose later on.
Bike
  • 38m 8s
  • 10 miles
  • 15.73 mile/hr
Comments:

Combines the two bike segments. On the first bike I started easy to soothe the headache a bit. Bike1 13:06 overall rank 43.
Bike2 25:02 overall rank 45.
What would you do differently?:

Slightly disappointed with my overall ranking on the bike. Push harder next time.
Transition 2
  • 00m 58s
Run
  • 22m 24s
  • 2.5 miles
  • 08m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

Disappointing, I felt I was running much better than 64 overall rank and just under a 9min pace. I felt strong, did not get passed and did pass a number of guys... :(
What would you do differently?:

Push harder!
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Of course it was snowy and slippery but that was the same for all. Did not feel to healthy today.

Event comments:

Just a fun race. I like it how flexible they are adjusting and changing it all around based on the weather conditions. Everyone always seems to have a great time.

I met a bunch of BT-ers which was very cool.

Way to get out of bed and out of the house yesterday morning!  Toeing the line in those conditions is victory in itself.  Too bad you were feeling off.  You will do great next race.
