Comments:

Great race, weather was great, forecast all week called for heavy rain, but it was just overcast and warm (mid 50'). Raced in a singlet and shorts. Three goals going in were at a minimum break 40 min, so I can getting a seeding card again for next year (allows you to start in coral in front of the other 6,000 or so runners), break CR from last year, 38:51, ultimate goal was to go under 37:00.

First two miles of the course are tough, with lots of congestion in the first mile (imagine 10,000 runners starting off on a 6 lane road, then necking down to a two lane road, and the second mile is entirely up hill). The initial goal was to go through the first mile in around 8:15, and the second in 8:30, then see how I felt at teh top of the hill. The frist mIle felt easy, and hti the mile mark at 7:26. Whoa, need to slow down a bit here. Worked teh hill during the second mile and came in at 8:16. From here it's all down hill for teh third, so I just let the legs turn over and do a 7:18. The fourth mile is mostly flat, just trying to work hard and hit the fourth in 7:14. WTF?? faster then the down hill mile. So now just trying to hold on for the last 3/4 mile. Get to the finish and end in 35:34. A new course PR by over 3 min. I promptly bend over and feel like I'm going to through up, but manage not to. Walk back to the two miles to the car, with a wicked cramp in my ribs, that finally subsides.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Two mile walk back to the car, another beer, then home for lots of turkey.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nothing, in fact I think the beer helped!!!

Hey Speedy!!! Great job on your race. Is beer before a race your secret to being so fast???

Love the movie Miracle!
