Pre-race routine:

Woke up aboout six. Had some OJ, some coffee, and a bowl of grape nuts. The race was about thirty minutes away, and I got there about 7:30. Got the packet, did some stretching, jogged around a bit, and that was it.
Event warmup:

Just sorta jogged around for a bit to get warmed up. It was around 40 degrees at the start, so cold, but not unbearable. Just got the blood flowing.

Comments:

Very nice run. Basically just a road in the forest. Put the ipod on and just enjoyed myself for this one. Though once I realized a PR was in reach, I really started focussing on my form and pace. Couldn't tell you what songs were played the last two miles.

Water stops were about every mile and a half. It was 40 degrees at the start and got up to around 45 I'd guess. I never really felt I needed the water, but it was nice to have.

At the finish they had bananas, some other snacks, and some Gatorade. Good organization for a small race (250 runners I'd estimate). I'll know more details when the results are online.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing at at all. I set a PR, so I can't complain about anything I did.
Post race
Warm down:

No warm down. Went right to the car, peeled off the running clothes, put on the warm cycling gear and went out for an hour ride.

Event comments:

Loved this race and plan on doing it again.

Performance: Good
I ran the first mile in 9:00, which is quick for me. I knocked it down a bit and had a 30:00 5k split. I noticed I was feeling really good, so I pushed it back up a little and ended up running the last 5k in under 28:30.
Course: An out and back on the Natchez Trace. A low traffic, two lane, smooth ashpalt road that is actually a National Park and a great bike route.
