Subject: Child Carrier Question
We have an 18 month old and I think she's finally willing to let us put a helmet on her. Question....both my husband's bikes are carbon, one's a road ones a tri bike. He's thinking you cannot or should not attach a trailer to that. I'm thinking he's probably right. My bike, of course, is aluminum but I have a hard enough time riding let alone pulling a 28 pounder in a trailer! I know there are some other options including a funky front mounting carrier. Anyone had any experience with this or recommendations?
Thanks!

I'd say that the child is FAR safer in a trailer than a seat on the bike -- not only is it more stable, but in the event of a crash, the trailer is generally more surrounded (like a roll cage). There are various models of trailers that clamp to the rear triangle (wouldn't recommend this for a carbon bike) or seat post (maybe hubby could get a second aluminum seatpost for this purpose?).

I agree with the above poster...in case you wreck (not a collision with another vehicle, just a wreck of some type) most all trailers (I don't know if ALL are like this)  have a separate pivot point, keeping the child safe.

A friend of mine has a burley and loves it.

Obvious answer--hubby needs a new (metal-frame) bike...

No more bikes! He still laments selling his steel bike a few years ago. If anyone's getting another bike, it's mama!
