Subject: OWS in Northern VA
Hi all, I live in Arlington and need to do at least one open water swim before my first sprint in May. Where can I do that? I appreciate the help.

Lake Barcroft. From Seven Corners, follow Sleepy Hollow toward Columbia Pike ... turn left onto Dearborn ... follow Dearborn about 1/2 mile ... you'll see a beach/park area on the right opening up to the lake. (you'll see signs that it's for Lake Barcroft residents only - i'm a Lake Barcroft resident and I've seen many non-residents training in the lake - particularly during early hours - and, to my knowledge, nobody has bothered the swimmers - by the way, the only power boats on the lake are 9 HP pontoon boats - you can almost outswim them) If you go in the middle of the day between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the lifeguard may ask for a pass, but I've never been asked and I've been swimming/kayaking in the lake for 6 years.
