Pre-race routine:

packed up car, ate oatmeal and sipped water on the drive, picked up Steve, parked, setup bike w/ fuel etc, registered, bathroom, rode around a bit, 1 gu and start.

Comments:

First time using aero bars, good long roads to try them out. Used aero bottle with 5 scoops of perpetulum. Should have filled it with water more in the start. Finished the bottle, added 12 oz water, and finished again. Also drank 8 oz of gatorade endurance and 24+ oz of water. Head felt good. Legs felt fatigued at 40-45 miles. It was warm and I sweat a lot. I wore a short sleeved jersey, bike shorts and wind breaker. Removed the wind breaker after the first hour. Only stopped at 1 aid station (2nd of 4)
What would you do differently?:

Fill aero bottle with water sooner.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, changed, ate orange slice, banana, and fig newton. Drank water and a strong hot coffee (yikes!).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Stop lights and crowds.

Event comments:

Beautiful day in Palm Springs for a long bike ride. I would do it again!
