Subject: High HR when running
So I needed to fit in a long(ish) run so decided to run to work. All the way I noticed that my HRwas 10-15 beats higher than what it normally is. I was well rested, hydrated etc so the only thing I could think was that because i had to carry all my work gear in backpack i was effectively 5 or so KGs heavier. Does anyone know if this would affect the HR?

Cheers
Roly

Added wt can definitely increase your HR, but I'm not sure it would be 10-15 beats extra.  Maybe even just the run outdoors did it?  Who knows.  If it keeps happening, then maybe something else is going on

Absolutely, a pack can increase your overall work and thus your HR as well. In the military I ran with a pack on occasion and my heart rate was significantly higher than without...

Might have had something to do with the fact you were running to WORK always makes my heart race when I wake up in the morning.

Carrying my babie in a snugglie while I walk is enough to raise my HR significantly and my baby is only 14 pounds. I think the weight in a place you are not used to having weight stresses your body difrently and may be incresing yoour HR.

Does your route to work happen to go by that neighbor's house where the owner is attractive, female, allergic to clothes, and doesn't believe in blinds? My HR jumps up higher when that happens to me too...

"Carrying my babie in a snugglie while I walk is enough to raise my HR significantly and my baby is only 14 pounds"

Now you can get a sense of what it's like to be pregnant!  I gained an average of 35 lbs with my three babies.
