I've seen lots of people have had luck with total immersion stuff.
Which book and DVD do triathletes get?
I have seen the TI: Freestyle Made Easy DVD. Does this one go with a specific book?

From what I've read and watched (got them from the library) the most recent is the one to get.  He updates his drills and lessons regularly.  The tri book gives some advice for open water swimming and swimming for endurance instead of out right sprints.

I haven't read the TI book devoted to triathletes so I can't speak for it, but I did just finish reading the TI book that was written in '96 but updated in like '04.  This is a must read.

You'll then definitely want to get the DVD "Freestyle Made Easy."  If you're really uncomfortable in and/or new to the water, check out "Happy Laps" in addition to the book and "Freestyle Made Easy."
