I am looking at getting these bikes...what do you think? Has anyone ever heard of them i think they are called Geneva Infinity? 18sp. He says he got them at Costco. Do you think they are a good deal or what should I offer?

Any thoughts?
Thanks

Never heard of the "Brand". I, Personally, would never buy a bike to race on, at Costco, or any discount, or Big Box store. You would be better off going to a local Bike Shop, and asking them about a used, bike. Cheap bike often have inferior components, poor alignment, junky welds and are heavy.

As one bike builder put it, you can have Cheap, Strong and Light, pick two.

A road bike? At Costco?!? I'd do some Internet research on the brand/model. Curious to know if it was slapped together by the dock guys at Costco and is still adjusted that way, or if it has since been adjusted at a LBS. Research, research, research.

From the pictures in the ad it has some Sora & Tiagra components. For $1100 you can get a better equipped bike than that. Look around, I found a new 2006my Giant OCR C3 (Carbon frame & 105 components) for that kind of money.

For lost cost many people really like www.bikesdirect.com. They sell a good bike at a good price. Its nothign fancy, but I have never heard complaints from any owners. A friend of mine just bought a Vent Noir, and he loves it.

As said.. I wouldnt buy a bike from Costco... Id rather get an older better brand, or a bikedirect ... something I know is decent.

For that kind of money I'd rather have something with a track record. There are several tempting bikes in the classifieds here.

One example in your price range: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=95831&posts=18&start=1

$1200 you can get this full DA, carbon crank and fork or for $995 on ebay this with Ultegra.  Basically the same bike.  But for $200 more you get full DA over ultegra and carbon crank.

x2, I ride the nemesis ultegra and love it and just a few days ago I bought my wife a Brand New Felt S32 for $1000.  Keep looking, the one you love is out there.

Here is a new '07 dual ULT for 1200
http://www.competitivecyclist.com/za/CCY?PAGE=PRODUCT&PRODUCT.ID=19...

or a new '07 p2 sl DA for 1500.
http://www.competitivecyclist.com/za/CCY?PAGE=PRODUCT&PRODUCT.ID=48...

Limited sizes, but if it fits, you are a winner.

Ohiost beat me to it.  I was also going to suggest that, if you like Cervélo, you should take a look at the P2SL Ultegra, which sells for appr. $1500.  I don't think any bike in that price range touches the P2SL.  You just have to wait a little longer to buy while you save up the extra $400.
