Pre-race routine:

Woke up early to drop my wife off at work and pack the car. Stopped at Starbucks for a Tall Non-Fat Latte and a whole wheat cranberry scone to eat on the way out at 7am. Arrived early and relaxed for 30mins reading and drinking water.
Event warmup:

Walked a couple of kms from the car to the start line. Not much of a warm up. Definitely chilly at the start.

Comments:

A good run. For most of the run I was able to keep to my pace of 5:40. Towards 14 to 17 kms the hills knocked my pace down.
What would you do differently?:

Brought my own drink.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around the Fort area while eating post race snacks. Walked back to my car for a couple of kms to keep my legs moving.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of strength training. The hills take a lot of mental and physical strength to keep climbing.

Event comments:

If you need more than a dixie cup every 5km bring your own! Prepare to be cold at the beginning and meet your support crew (friends and family) to shed clothes over the course.

Performance: Good
Course: Lot's of hills after the halfway mark. This is the first time to run a hilly course for me. I was disappointed with the lack of aid stations. I guess I've been spoiled with more established races. I did notice a lot of people brought their own drinks. It would have helped to mark the aid stations on the map so I could plan for this. Very nice scenery for most of the race. Starting in the town of Fort Langley and heading into the Wild Animal Conservation area, through the farmland, then Walnut Grove and back into the Fort for the finish is nice.

Looked like a great day for a run! (if you started at 10!) It was so cold out today, glad the weather cooperated for you, good run!
