What was the most weight loss you experienced up to your IM race?

I lost 9lbs, mostly from GI bathroom issues I'm guessing, I gained it all back in two days.

I know I gained weight as well.  The run was a 4:50 hour buffet!!!  I actually think I started recovering half way thru the run...

Maybe I missed it but I think the question was weight lost leading UP TO IM , not DURING IM.

I've dropped 23 since I registered for IM Louisville last September. I want to brag about my rediscovered discipline in eating and training, but frankly, when you let things go as badly as I had it's pretty easy to put up a big number. I expect I'll drop another 10 -12 before I the race.

I lost about 30 during IM Training. Prior to the start of my 20 week plan I'd lost 140.

You didn't have an option for weight gain. I managed to gain 5lbs of fat (not muscle) during my training! Tell me how that happens!

I did the BT IM Fit Challenge back in Oct - Dec last year and lost 10 lbs during that. That led me into my "official" IMAZ training. Since then, my weight has stayed EXACTLY the same...132. But, I'm going through a massive body-type conversion. I've gotten more lean and muscular and my clothes are really baggy on me. Everyone thinks I've dropped a ton of weight by how I look, but the number on the scale is the same, and it has been for 2 months.

My coach told me a lot of his athletes gain weight during IM training b/c they overestimate calories burned and underestimate calories eaten.  You still have to watch your diet, you can't just eat whatever you want if you want to lose/maintain weight.  I have been hypervigilant about only eating to fuel and have lost 8 pounds (also following weight watchers) and I still feel energized and am not hungry all the time.

I did gain weight when training for 2 of my stand alone marathons and I'm pretty sure it's because I took the attitude "I'm training for a marathon, I can eat whatever!"  Well I had to carry extra lbs across the finish line so I am not doing that again!

I've lost more than 15 pounds since I started IM training in December. But it's more from watching my diet than from all the freakin' training. I still maintain a 1400 to 1500 calories a day. For me the trick is to eat right, but eat to fuel. So I don't "starve" myself. I mean I eat about six times a day but the food I eat is all about how it fuels my body - gives me energy or rebuilds the engine. So no greasy, fatty stuff. But I do "cheat..." every now and then. I mean I'm only human. But really when you think - slam that case of beer and eat that pizza or wake up early to do my 10 mile run. The 10 mile run wins - most of the time!

I've lost about 95 and hope to lose another 8 before IMLP. Last 8 are slow going. I know losing those last few pounds will improve my power/weight ratio and make those hills a bit easier.

I think it is hard to fuel well for workouts and also cut calories..at least for me it is.

That's phenomenal - congratulations!

I lost about 55 pounds before IMWI in 06, and over the last year and a half, I put back on about 20 of that. Since Jan 1, I've lost about 15, so I'm on my way back to my fighting weight!

I've lost about 2, but I had gained about 10 while training for the Marine Corps Marathon in October (weight gain was due to a medication I was on...I was still dieting and could even benefit from it!). I want to be back at race weight around 134 or so, but my shoulders are pretty buff right now so the extra weight isn't from a spare tire.

I stayed pretty much the same throughout the training.  Maybe 1 or 2 pounds different (margin of error makes it a wash).

But I also train year round anyways, so it stays pretty consistent.

I'd say that during my peak week's I was probably down 4 or 5 pounds, but that came back as soon as I was in a recovery week and during my taper.  Even now during my intensive marathon training my weight is pretty stable similar to where it was during IM training.

If I stay on the same weight that I am right now, I'll be down about 20-25 lbs this November for IMAZ.  I weighed 196 at Lake Placid last July and I'm about 177 now.  I'm actually trying to get down to 170 at race time.

I weighed in heavy as well ..... like 10 pounds more than I was just a few days before on my Tanita scale (which is pretty damn accurate).  They made me keep shoes and everything on and sinc I registered right when I pulled into the event I also had a 32 oz. Gatorade and big azz sSnickers bar in my stomach.  But still ... their scales had to be not calibrated correctly.

I started at 185lbs and now at 170, I plan to be at 160 to 165 race day. I think my best weight would be 155 to 160, 5' 9". During College 30+ years ago I was 150 lb playing Soccer but my body just does not react the same.
