Subject: St. A's Weekend BT Activities??

So...St. A's is about 60 days away  I was hoping to get another group together this year and have a big dinner.  It was so much fun last year! Marino's proved to be a perfect venue for a pre-race dinner and they were most helpful in planning it.  Would anyone wanna do the same again this year?  I'd be happy to take care of the arrangements again.  Post opinions here!

Also...suggestions for a Friday night gathering?  We had a blast at Baywalk last year with our frozen drinks and chocolate cake!

I'm good with both again.  Just no ice cream for me after dinner or before dinner again.

I would love to do a dinner again this year. Last year was a great time at Marino's. Great food and great spot. Claudie will be there as well, although she will be volunteering this year (preggo).

Thanks Jeff for the organization!!

OK cool!!!  Glad to know there's some interest!  I know we have plenty of time, but at least I know I can go ahead and start making some plans.

We'll do like we did last year...meet at Baywalk on Friday night for a little meet and greet, have some frozen drinks, etc.  Then Saturday is Meek and Mighty, so anyone who wants to come out and cheer on some BTers, we'll be there!  Saturday night we'll do our big gathering...I'll contact Marino's a few weeks in advance so we have a place to eat.  This will be fun!!

Yes, I said ICE CREAM.   Baywalk has a Ben & Jerry's that I ate at twice on Sat.  Once before dinner, once after.

Kids are ALWAYS welcome at BT gatherings!  Lucy usually brings hers, and ropkins and snikpos brought theirs two years ago.  No worries!!

We're going to the Sox game Friday night. First base loge box tickets

What is Marino's? Is the place we went two years ago still open? Really liked that.

The place we went to was called dish.  It's an art gallery now.     It is on the other end of the shopping center that it was on.  Like, maybe 200 yards or so away. Walk through the daiquiri bar and there you are.

Marino's is a steakhouse, one of several owned by Dan Marino.  hamburgers, steak, pasta, salmon.

last year, jldicarlo went to the Sox game right after the race!!   Lucky this year it's BEFORE the race!  She is sooo gonna miss it!

I was staying here:  http://www.poncedeleonhotel.com/  but my plans have changed and I'm staying somewhere else.  I have a full or queen bed here for 3 nights, if anyone is interested.  I keep forgetting to canel the reservation, but am hoping I remember by friday.  It's around 100 bucks a night and is close to the venue.

upon a recommendation from a friend who lives out there: Best Western on 4th and 54th.  Looks like a straight, 3 mile drive to the site down 4th.  She also gave me the Comfort Inn on 54th, and the Holiday Inn express on 54th ave N.   I can't stay with her, she has cats.

I just spent an hour looking for a room.  Everythign is freakin' booked.  Get busy!

I was wavering on staying down in St Pete or just driving down.

Hampton Inn on 34th St still has plenty of rooms.  I was actually able to get a room with my Hilton points.  No brainer on that decision.

I looked at the Hampton too.  We stayed at the Days Inn on 34th last year.   I'm staying on the other side of the Interstate.

a hotel room makes sense for all the multiple trips all day when you think about it.... plus you can sneak away for a nap.

my coach is staying at the Vinoy. sheesh....

I get to stay there too   I am not paying - it's a treat from someone else.  I may just skip the race and sip drinks on the balcony

You're in for it!!!

I'm staying at home the night before.  I can't see paying money to stay close when it's only 35 minutes from my place to there.
