lets see if we can group together and figure out meeting up for workouts? even if we just start with once a month and pick a central place? how about if we all start with our town location and an idea for a meeting place?

i'm in norton, ma - how about; walden pond (for a run), cape, rhode island bike path.

so far, i know the following people that are in the area (but still respond here with ideas, k?)

I say we all pile into someone's car and go skiing.  The heck with trying to swim/bike/run when we could go ski!

I'm up for doing about anything. Don't mind traveling as well. But if I'm gonna go through all the hassle of renting ski equipment, then you gotta let me throw snowballs at you at the very least!

Like Glen says, we should post up a few weekends and see what everyone wants to do. I'm going to a swim clinic in Weymouth tomorrow morning, but my schedule is basically pretty flexible. I do need to climb 6 of the NH 4,000 foot mountains this winter to finish all 48 of them, so sometime between Dec. 22 and March 22 that will be on my "to do" list!

No snow in sight here yet. Hey what's with this "wear a dress" thing at the Hyannis 1/2 marathon? Where did that come from? I'm willing to do it if someone else does, but I'm not looking like an idiot all by myself!

not just any dress Max.  It has to be a bridesmaid's dress because as every bride has told their wedding party that they will definately be able to wear that dress again.  Now we all know that's BS, but this is a golden opportunity to do just that!  Uh huh, I got rid of the dress from my brother's wedding when we moved into this house a few years ago.....

Oh, I'd look simply smashing in the pink one that Patti wore to her sister's wedding! I doubt she still has it though...do I need to rent one?

Max, I'll do it if you do!? Don;t know where I can get a dress but after a grass skirt I'll try anything  hehehe

Max...I did 2 peaks- bond cliffs and mt bond this fall, what a great time, very exhausting but wonderful. What an awesome goal to be able to do the 48!!  6 in one winter--wow!!

i'd love to go skiing, but umm...can you teach me how?

as for the falmouth race...i think there is a 10K associated with it. i could attempt that one. i did the tufts 10K this past fall and i did run 13 minutes, walk 2. it worked out great. i'd love to run the whole 10K this time.

okay..so, how about we set up our first get together to meet, run and have coffee. i don't mind driving to cape. we can set up training runs on the race route.

what is the wedding dress thing? can i just wear what i wore to my divorce instead?

Glen, I did 20 peaks 2 years ago, and 22 last year, so the final 6 this winter will be a piece of cake. That will finish them up in the winter for me. As far as my "all season" totals go, I'm on my 5th time around to finish them (3 more to go for that list). Yes Bond and Bondcliff and West Bond are on just about everyone's list of favorite peaks in the White Mountains...great views from the middle of nowhere!

Ellen, they've been making snow at Wachusett, but nothing here on the ground yet. All we got was rain!

Hmmm...I will have to ask my sisters, there have been quite a few weddings in the past few years.  How about an old wedding dress, no train of course ?  LOL

ROFL....that is one of the best lines I've ever heard in here!

Hey you know, for anyone that has a portable trainer, it wouldn't be so hard also to pack it up and drag it down to meet in someone's basement or garage for an afternoon of training. I've got PLENTY of Tour de France and Giro d'Italia racing tapes to watch as well as a portable TV/VCR set up.

I've got enough room in my garage for at least 8 people if I take the car out and move the motorcycle over. It's a bit chilly, 50 degrees or less, but once you get warm you'd never notice! I'm probably the furthest away from everyone, but you're welcome to come here any time. We're always looking for an excuse to have company!

Let's see, the next 2 weekends, the 11th - 12th and 18th - 19th I have no plans for either.

There is a 10K race in Newport RI on Sunday December 12th: http://www.altrue.net/site/hopecenter/content.php?type=2&id=2210

is that a 10k for runners and a 5K for walkers? i can't figure out if that says 3-5 miles or 3.5 miles.
it seems like the school will be available (open that is) during the race. if i know my kids could hang out inside during the race...i'll definetly sign up. i'll probably have to do my ol' run/walk mix. that is unless i get volunteers to drag me out running 3 times a week for the next two weeks!!

I think it's 3.5 miles for the walkers. Aww...I bet you could do a 10-K....a youngster like you, probably on pure adrenaline alone! Now old geezers like me, I gotta have my fruit and cereal in the morning and get a good nights sleep first. This sounds like a fun race...I think I just may do this one! What the heck, I've got nothing else planned for that weekend, and it'll be good for my winter training. The last thing I want to do is lose the fitness that I've built up over the past 8 months.

Just checked last year's results...429 finishers, so sounds like a good crowd!

OK Ellen...put that ice cream down, and SLOWLY back away from the refrigerator! Mike! Tell Ellen to get on the trainer!!!!

aww shucks daddy-o.

44 is a youngster?.....i'm good with that.

but none the less....i'm a whimp. i never ran 6 miles, only did the run/walk thing.

okay..back to business. i'll make the 10k race decision tomorrow...got to check kid calendar. my daughter is starting volleyball, i'll get the schedule tomorrow. BUT, we can still book the biking in your garage and some running dates!!

biking in templeton garage, (remember i'm a whimp)
running in falmouth?, (remember i'm a slow whimp).
